As the nation awaits the conduct of Osun State governorship election this Saturday, state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu to arrest and prosecute the Senator representing Osun Central, Francis Fadahunsi over killing of Accord Party.

A viral video sighted by Daily Champion in which the lawmaker was allegedly heard calling for the killing of Accord Party leaders, supporters and their family members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, during an emergency press briefing in Osogbo, Adeleke raised concerns over alleged security operations against Accord Party leaders ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

“The viral video of a serving Senator, Francis Fadahunsi, who today called for the killing of Accord Party leaders, supporters and their families. In the video, the Senator even threatened that where they cannot get Accord Party leaders, they should kill their wives and children.

“This is now beyond politics. This is now a national security threat that requires the attention of Mr President through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“We demand that the IGP enforce due process and fair policing by aborting all anti-people plots against democracy in Osun State.

“We finally request that the police and other security agencies should act in line with the rule of law and their oath of office before, during and after these coming elections,” he said.

Reacting to the incident, Fadahunsi, refuted the narratives, stressing that the remark was a political metaphor urging APC supporters to defeat the Accord Party at the ballot box.

He added that, “What I have told my people is that that between now and the day of elections, my people should come out en masse and kill with votes.”

Guild of online Media Editors and publishers of Nigeria GOMEP-NG and public affairs commentator, Nat’l President,Comr. Akpovoke Otiti, has criticised the ongoing Delta Economic Summit, arguing that the state government must first account for the outcome of previous investment initiatives before embarking on another campaign to attract foreign investors.

Speaking on the summit, Otiti recalled that during the administration of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, government officials, including Dr. Kingsley Emu, travelled to China in a bid to attract investors to Delta State.

According to him, the trip was accompanied by widespread publicity and assurances that it would pave the way for the development of the proposed Kwale Industrial Park, which was projected to boost industrialisation and create employment opportunities.

“At the time, there was so much excitement. Deltans were made to believe that the state was on the verge of attracting major investments. Millions of naira were reportedly spent on the trip, yet years later there is little or nothing to show for it,” he said.

Otiti alleged that the proposed Kwale Industrial Park had failed to take off, claiming that the acquired land had remained undeveloped and was gradually turning into a forest.

“Today, nobody talks about the Kwale Industrial Park anymore. It appears to have been dead on arrival,” he added.

He expressed concern that officials associated with the previous investment drive were once again spearheading the Delta Economic Summit with promises of attracting foreign investors.

“The same people who could not deliver investors during the last administration are now asking Deltans to believe another round of promises. It is difficult to understand why citizens should be convinced without first seeing tangible results from the earlier efforts,” Otiti said.

He called on the organisers of the summit to provide a comprehensive account of past investment missions and demonstrate the achievements recorded before seeking public support for new initiatives.

According to him, transparency, accountability and measurable outcomes are essential to restoring public confidence in the state’s investment agenda.

A state-of-the-art physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre equipped with advanced treatment technology has been inaugurated in Abuja on Monday, with its promoters saying the facility will expand access to specialised care, reduce dependence on medical tourism and support efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Commissioning the facility, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera, said the investment would improve access to quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation, enabling more Nigerians to receive specialised treatment locally instead of travelling abroad.

Speaking after touring the centre, the traditional ruler said the clinic houses equipment comparable to what many Nigerians travel overseas to access.

“Alhamdulillah, glory be to God. I’ve been around the clinic and what I saw is really pleasing. Most of what we see and experience when we go outside for treatments like this is here now and I believe this will go a long way in providing cheaper and warmer care to Nigerians from all walks of life.

“The proprietor mentioned he’s doing this with the intention of supporting and helping every Nigerian get access to recover from a stroke, pain or whatever they suffer from as easily and cheaply as possible, and the care they provide here is one that is very difficult to access outside.

“Some people cannot even walk, some cannot stand. It takes a long time to get permission to travel from embassies and also from the airlines. Having a centre like this in Abuja and hopefully closer to our states is a wonderful opportunity for all Nigerians.

“I’m really happy with what I saw and I believe we are turning the page for all Nigerians to receive the care we need within the shortest time and at the cheapest possible rates.”

Registrar of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria, Prof. Ahmad Alkali, said the facility would complement ongoing government efforts to bridge gaps in physiotherapy and rehabilitation across the country.

He disclosed that Nigeria recently completed a national assessment under the World Health Organisation’s Rehabilitation 2030 programme, which revealed significant deficiencies in service delivery.

According to him, the Federal Government is expanding access to rehabilitation by integrating the services into primary healthcare while strengthening secondary and tertiary health facilities.

“Nigeria has just completed the process of situation assessment and what was found was that there’s a very huge gap in service delivery.

“The government is doing its best to expand the services by increasing the number of secondary and tertiary hospitals and also implementing the integration of rehabilitation into primary healthcare, which is going to help identify people at the grassroots who need those services and refer them to secondary and tertiary facilities.

“But because the number is huge, the public facilities alone will not be able to cater for everyone. Therefore, this centre is going to complement what government has done in providing services when people come to the secondary and tertiary levels of care. So this is a very wonderful development.

“We appreciate what has been done because what has been invested here, if invested in other businesses, could probably have produced double or triple the profit. But investing in health means the person has humanity in mind and that’s very commendable.”

Founder and Managing Director of NOHSONIC Physiotherapy Clinic, Dr. Kingsley Nwankwo, said the project was established to enable Nigerians access world-class physiotherapy and rehabilitation without travelling overseas.

He said inadequate access to modern equipment has remained a major challenge despite the availability of skilled physiotherapists in the country.

“If we have this equipment here, we’re going to attract more colleagues to stay back, learn these technologies, improve their practice and ultimately give the best care to patients.

“The most important thing to us is patients, and NOHSONIC is open to every class of patient.”

He said the centre houses nearly 100 specialised rehabilitation machines, including advanced laser therapy systems, electric traction beds, electronic tilt tables and other equipment for managing chronic pain, neurological disorders, stroke recovery and orthopaedic injuries.

According to him, affordability remains central to the clinic’s operations.

“NOHSONIC is open to every class of Nigerians and even non-Nigerians. We are affordable.
