By David Owei
Five persons have been feared killed at the weekend in a renewed cult war in Yenagoa, the Bayelsà State capital.
The war, which broke out on Friday between notorious cult groups known as Bobos and Greenlanders, has led to recorded killings in Agudama, Obele and Back of St.Peters in the state capital.
Sources confirmed he killings have damaged the peace accord secured among the various cult groups by the Former leadership of the State Police Command. And threatening to damage the accord entered into between the Greenlanders and Icelanders.
A sources claimed the first killing recorded in Agudama community led to the butchering of a youth and his head severed. Another cult boy was also shot in the buttocks but was rescued by a neighbour and his present state of health is unknown.
However, our correspondent could not immediately confirm the reasons behind the renewed hostilities. But many confirmed that both the Bobos and Greenlanders are known rivals irrespective of any existing peace accord.
A check at the Imgbi road area, the Ovom and Obele dark spots showed the disappearance of youths involved in the cult related activities over the fear of police arrest or attack from rival groups.
Already, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale has ordered intensified operations against cultism and cult-related violence across the State
Ajao has ordered an intensified operations against cult-related activities, insisting there must be no sacred cow.
The CP directed Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to increase patrols in vulnerable areas, identify emerging threats and act promptly on credible intelligence about planned clashes, initiation ceremonies and recruitment.
The Command is also strengthening engagement with community leaders to detect tensions early. Where an attack occurs, officers will move swiftly to secure the area, investigate those responsible and prevent retaliatory violence.
Cult groups contemplating an attack or reprisal should be under no illusion: the Command will pursue them and their sponsors and get them.
The public is reminded that the Bayelsa State Secret Cults/Societies and Similar Activities (Prohibition) Law, 2012, as amended in 2018, prohibits membership and sponsorship of secret cults and provides serious criminal penalties upon conviction.
There will be no sacred cows. Anyone reasonably suspected of organising, financing, facilitating or participating in cult-related crimes will be investigated, regardless of status or influence. Where the evidence warrants it, suspects will be charged before the appropriate court in accordance with due process.
Parents and guardians are urged to caution their children and wards against cult involvement. Residents should immediately report planned attacks, recruitment or other cult activities to the nearest police station.
The Command warns everyone against reprisal attacks, harbouring suspects or spreading rumours that could provoke further violence. Report threats early; do not take the law into your own hands.

Abducted NYSC members regain freedom …..Uzodimma confirms
By Our Correspondent
Jubilation among residents of Imo state in particular and the country in general following the release of prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday.
Recall that the victims were abducted while on their way to orientation camp.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday evening by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in a telephone conversation with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
Governor Uzodimma broke the news to the Olubadan at exactly 5:00 p.m. today, confirming that the corps members have regained their freedom.
The confirmation was contained in a press release issued from the Olubadan Palace and signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Adeola Oloko.
” The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma confirmed this in a telephone conversation with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja at 5.00pm today, Wednesday,” the release stated.
Although details of the rescue operation remain sketchy as at press time, palace sources indicated that the Governor assured the Olubadan that all the abducted prospective corps members are safe and have been released.
The abduction of prospective corps members has become a recurring security challenge in recent years, as thousands of young Nigerian graduates traverse the country to report at NYSC orientation camps in different states.
The NYSC scheme, established in 1973 by the General Yakubu Gowon administration to foster national unity and integration after the civil war, mandates graduates below the age of 30 to serve the nation for one year.
In the last three years, several incidents of kidnapping of corps members and prospective corps members have been reported along major highways, particularly in the South-East, South-South and North-West corridors, prompting the NYSC management to repeatedly advise Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) to avoid night travels and to board vehicles only at designated motor parks.
The Imo State Government under Governor Hope Uzodimma has been battling insecurity occasioned by unknown gunmen and kidnapping syndicates, and has in recent months intensified collaboration with security agencies including the Police, Army, DSS and local vigilante groups to secure major roads leading into the state.
The personal telephone call by Governor Uzodimma to the Olubadan underscores the deep traditional and political rapport between the two leaders. Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State and now the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, is a highly respected traditional ruler whose palace has become a rallying point for national issues.
The Olubadan, who ascended the throne with vast experience in governance and security matters, has consistently called for stronger inter-state collaboration to tackle kidnapping and protect youth.
The release of the abducted prospective corps members is expected to bring relief to their families, many of whom are from Oyo State and the South-West, and to calm anxiety among parents whose children are currently in orientation camps across the country.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the operation that led to their release and whether any ransom was paid or arrests were made.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations for official confirmation were unsuccessful.
The Olubadan Palace, however, assured that more details would be made public in due course.
The development has been widely welcomed by Nigerians who have been praying for the safe return of the abducted young graduates.

By David Owei
The Auctioneer Association of Nigeria, Bayelsà State chapter has debunked the report claiming to hand the State Governor, Gov. Douye Diri a seven days ultimatum over the alleged violation of Procurement laws of the State.
According to the Auctioneer Association of Nigeria, the ultimatum was handed to the said chairman, Hon. Timothy Diekivie involved in the sale of Government unwanted properties; the said 7 days ultimatum to be invoked by the relevant authorities against the chairman.

And also an issuance of order for the Chairman to cease and desist in respect to the items situate at Swali town, Yenagoa, Bayelsà State and furthermore an arrest, investigation and possible prosecution of the State Environmental Sanitation boss.”
He also stated that the Auctioneer Association of Nigeria, Bayelsà State chapter is ready to drag the State Sanitation Chairman before a competent Court of Justice to seek redress against his alleged violation of the State Public Procurement (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Act.
