By Our Reporter
The Lagos State Government has declared the cancellation of the work-from-home initiative and is expected to take effect from 31st March, 2025.
Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro gave the directive in a circular on Tuesday.
In the wake of economic hardship occasioned by the removal of subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, the State Government had come up with a number of interventions to cushion the effects.
One of such measures which took effect since February 2024 was the directive for the State workers to work from home.
With the implementation of new minimum wage, the State Government had stopped the initiative so that the workers would resume fully.
The circular read, “Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the State Public Service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of Public Servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the cancellation of the work from home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service.
“To this end, cancellation of the work from home initiative which had been in place since February 2024 will take effect from 31st March, 2025.
“In view of the above, Public Servants are implored to fully rededicate themselves to effective discharge of their duties and ensure improved service delivery in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS).
“Accordingly, Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of this circular and give it the service-wide publicity it deserves.”

Senator Yar’Adua dumps APC …says party derails from original ideals, selfish, corrupt

Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua

Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), citing the party’s departure from its founding ideals and describing the current administration as “selfish and stinkingly corrupt.”

In a strongly worded resignation letter addressed to his colleagues and the Nigerian public, Yar’adua, a founding member of both the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the APC, accused the ruling party of betraying the masses and abandoning its original mission of service to the people.

“I can not remain in a party or support a government that unashamedly watches its citizens being maimed, intimidated, sexually-harassed, assaulted, killed and displaced… while the government, its leadership and organs… remain aloof and unconcerned,” Yar’adua stated.

He further criticized the economic policies of the APC-led government, labeling them “destructive” and targeted at the “welfare, dignity, lands and livelihood” of Nigerians . He likened those in power to “urban bandits” and declared his intention to work with other like-minded individuals to democratically oust the current administration.

His exit marks a significant development in Katsina State politics and could trigger more defections, especially among disillusioned party loyalists.

Yar’adua concluded his statement with a call to action: “I, therefore, have no option other than to join hands with like-minds to democratically remove this bad, selfish and stinkingly corrupt administration.”
