Revelation: How USA Congressman’s allegation ‘USAID funds Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria’ sparks tension ……..Senate summons Intelligence Chiefs for investigation
The Senate on wednesday at plenary summoned Security Intelligence Chiefs for investigation on the veracity of the allegation by Perry Scott of the United States parliament.
The lawmaker, Mr Scott Perry, representing Pennsylvania, alleged at the inaugural hearing of subcommittee on delivering on government efficiency, USAID has been funding terrorist organizations across the world.
Recall that there has been a trending news on Social Media on the alleged funding of terrorism in Nigeria by the United States Agency for International Development USAID,
The resolution followed an Order of Urgent National Security through Order 41 by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, urged the Senate to consider the revelation as too weighty to gloss over, given the devastation that terrorists have done to the country, particularly the Boko Haram fighters, stressing that the investigation would put paid to speculations on how the non-state actors have been surviving over the years.

President Donald Trump
In his motion, Senator Ndume noted that this allegation is coming up at the heels of the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Moussa, raising an alarm that Boko Haram terrorist groups are being sponsored and trained by international organizations.
He further observed that over the years, the modus operandi of Boko Haram in Nigeria has been a source of great concern. Their source of funding and operations have been shrouded in mystery.
Continuing the lawmaker noted that the devastation caused by Boko Haram in the Northeast region and other parts of the country, which includes the bombing of UN building in August 2021, and of course the bombing of the police headquarters here in Abuja, among other attacks, led to loss of lives of Nigerians in thousands, and wanton destructions on properties which occasioned precedented internal displacement across the country.
He also recalled that the federal government over the years strived to put measures in place to curtail the activities of terrorist groups in the country by spending huge resources, which seem not to have yielded much result as the nefarious activities of terrorists continued unabashedly.
Ndume noted that the monumental devastation caused by Boko Haram in this country should be a matter of concern, as it has dented the image of this country among the community of nations for allegations and for allegations to begin to emerge.
He further said that it is not yet in time that some international organizations are behind this unwholesome act, adding that there is the urgent need for steps to be taken by the federal government to unravel the mystery behind this whole episode
Seconding the motion, Senator Abdul Ningi said, “it’s a sensitive matter, and it’s an allegation. We should be very careful and try to find out the truth of that allegation.
“Mr. President, I stand with what you said, Thank you very much. Thank you. And in fact, the U.S. Senate or the U.S. Congress will not delve into allegations on social media. If they have to, they will invite their security chiefs to get details.
” So the National Security Advisor, the NIA, the DSS, DIA, will hear from them in closed session. They brief us because they have the data, they know the record, and they will know the veracity of the situation. ”
Consequently after some members have contributed to the motion, Senate summoned heads of security intelligence agencies comprising:, National Intelligence Agency, (NIA). Directorate of Intelligence Agency, (DIA), Department of State Services, (DSS), and the National Security Adviser, (NIA).
In his remarks,Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, said saying that in sustaining the resolution ,”that security issues should not be discussed in the market”, adding that the head of security intelligence will offer the Senate better perspective in a close door meeting with them.

Re: Allegations Of Forgery,Conspiracy Against Prof. Augustine Akubue False,Baseless,Malicious
By Our Correspondent
State Chairman Elect, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Enugu State Chapter,Prof. Augustine Akubue, has described as false, baseless and malicious forgery allegation against his person by a group under the aegis of “Concerned ADC Stakeholders” in the state.
In a statement signed by by himself and made available to Journalists Prof Akubue said ” my attention has been drawn to a spurious publication by a group parading itself as “Concerned ADC Stakeholders” led by one Raphael Idoko, wherein they made unfounded allegations of forgery and conspiracy against my person.
“I categorically state that the said allegations are false, baseless, malicious, and a calculated attempt at political bullying by disgruntled elements who lost out in the recently concluded, free and fair ADC State Congress in Enugu State.
“For the record, there was indeed a civil matter arising from a property transaction at Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, which I lawfully bought through a legal practitioner. In the course of that transaction, an issue of alleged irregular signature arose and the matter was submitted to court for adjudication.
“Upon diligent inquiry and judicial review, it was established that there was no wrongdoing on my part. Consequently, parties voluntarily opted for an out-of-court settlement, and a Memorandum of Understanding was duly executed by all parties concerned.”
The statement further added,”Any subsequent attempt to impugn the authenticity of the said Memorandum of Understanding was appropriately discountenanced by a High Court of competent jurisdiction, which upheld the settlement. The certified records of the Memorandum of Understanding and the relevant judicial pronouncements are extant and available for verification, and they conclusively establish my innocence.
“Ordinarily, I would not dignify such mischief with a response. However, for the sake of the unsuspecting public and the integrity of our great party, it has become necessary to set the records straight: I, Prof. Augustine Akubue, have never been involved in any act of forgery or conspiracy.
“This contrived allegation is nothing but the handiwork of political detractors seeking to acquire power through the back door, having failed at the ballot during the Congress.
“I therefore advise Mr. Raphael Idoko and his co-travelers to desist from further acts of defamation and political brigandage, and to join hands with the duly elected leadership to build a strong, united, and victorious ADC in Enugu State.
“I remain committed to the rule of law, due process, and the democratic ideals upon which our party is founded.”
