Niger state govt.seeks out of court settlement on Badegi Radio station’s suite

This was the outcome of the request made at the resumed hearing of the suite filed by the counsel to the radio station Barrister Philip Emmanuel before the Minna High Court number four.
On Monday,resumed hearing in the suite numberNSHC/M/ 0296/ 2025,filed on Tuesday,the 5th,August,2025, the counsel to the defendants Jacob Johnson Usman SAN announced that there is a moved for out of court settlement in the matter.
Johnson Usman SAN,told the court that he had a discussion with the counsel to the Plaintiffs of the need to resolve the matter out court in the interest of peace and the interest of the generality of the people of Niger State.
He further informed the Court that he had earlier informed counsel to the Plaintiffs Barrister Philip Emmanuel that ” I have had a discussion with my clients, the Governor of Niger State and the Attorney General of Niger State that we need to resolve the matter and he agreed
” And the counsel to the Plaintiffs also agreed that the matter be resolved in the best interest of his clients. A we informed the Court as such .
” We have taken a date for 3rd of September 2025 to report for out of court settlement” Jacobs Johnson Usman SAN told Journalists shortly after the court session.
Justice Mohammed Mohammed,of the Minna High Court number four had on Tuesday the 5th of August 2025 granted an interim injuction in favour of the plaintiffs, Baddegi FM station, Baddegi Broadcasting Service Ltd, and its Managing Director Mohammed Shaibu Baddegi.
Barrister Philip Emmanuel counsel to the plaintiff had approached the court through an ex-parte Motion backed with relevants Provisions and sections of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended) and the relevant Provisions of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) among others.
In his last week rulling, Justice Mohammed Mohammed restrained the respondents which includes the Executive governor of Niger State, the Attorney General of Niger State,and the Urban Development Board from carrying any unpleasant actions that could be detrimental to the Broadcasting license or business premises located at the NTA premises Uphill in Minna.

Insecurity :Kidnapped 13 years old Imo boy escapes from kidnappers, found in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra State on Monday announced that a 13-year old boy who was allegedly abducted by unknown men in Ideato,Local Government Area of Imo State has been found by a Vigilante in the state.
The boy was said to have escaped from his captors in a bush in Ideato Local Government Area of Imo State after they fell asleep.
The victim whose name was given as Anayo Stephen, from Ubaha-Akparu community was said to have been kidnapped by four young men in a Hilux vehicle while on his way to fetch grass for goats.
He was however, lucky as he ran into the vigilante operatives at Ideani in Idemli North local government area of Anambra state after escaping from his captors’ custody.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said that the boy is in safe custody of the Command.
The statement read in part, “Anambra Police Command wishes to inform the public, especially the people of Ideato LGA of Imo state of the safe custody of one Anayo Stephen,13, from Ubaha-Akparu Community.
“The young boy was allegedly abducted in Imo stat but was found at Ideani Junction in Anambra.
“According to the boy, on Aug.9, at about 3p.m., while on his way to fetch grass for goats, four young men in a Hilux vehicle stopped him.
“They initially asked him for directions to a certain place in his area.
However, unknown to him, they allegedly abducted him and took him to an undisclosed location.
“The boy further stated that while his captors were asleep with him in the bush, he managed to escape.
“While walking away from the scene, he met the vigilante operatives at Ideani Junction and narrated his ordeal.
“The victim speaks both Igbo and English fluently.
“The Command seeks the assistance of members of the media to share his picture for possible identification and to reunite him with his family.”
