Your Failed Plot To Denigrate Office of Senate President, Will Lead To Your Destruction – Agbomhere Blasts Senator Natasha

President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio
The South South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Blessing Agbomhere has mocked the satirical letter of apology recently released by the suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that the lawmaker’s lamentation has only just begun an hour into a journey of two years.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Agbomhere urged Senator Natasha to consider joining Nollywood, as letter writing will not be of much help to her in her journey of mischief, adding that her mudslinging habit targeted at the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the National Assembly as an institution will never yield her expected results.
In a statement which he released Wednesday, Agbomhere described the satirical letter as laughable and meaningless to those who believe in the sanctity of the most important arm of government – the legislature, and those who love the number three citizen of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger and the Uncommon President of the Nigerian Senate.
Dr. Agbomhere reiterated that Senator Natasha’s continued unpatriotic actions since her suspension should be condemned by every well meaning Nigerian rather than being encouraged, as being done by charlatans and unpatriotic elements who find fulfilment in destroying the image of their own country; “The most pitiable part of the whole national nuisance is that Senator Natasha is married to an idiot who cannot stop her from self destruction”. Agbomhere said.
The APC South South Zonal Organizing Secretary reminded Senator Natasha of the oath of office she took while being sworn in as Kogi Central lawmaker which among other things includes the protection of the sanctity of the National Assembly. Agbomhere wondered why Senator Natasha vigorously fought to enter the Senate through the judgement of the Court of Appeal, when she knew that she did not possess the gravitas, finesse and temperament required to belong to the hallowed Chamber.
“Senator Natasha was suspended by the Senate for gross indiscipline, rather than do the needful by apologizing or clearing her name in a court of law, she has elected to whip up sentiments against the Uncommon Commissioner, Governor and Architect of Modern Akwa-Ibom State, the Uncommon Minister of Infrastructural Development in the Niger Delta Region, and the uncommon, patriotic, unbeatable and infallible Senate President, the amiable and adorable Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, the National Assembly as an institution and the government, led by a reformer and visionary President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Senator Natasha’s behavior I dare say, amounts to treason. How on earth can a supposed Distinguished member of the Nigerian Parliament make it a stock in trade to break protocol and de-market the most important arm of government in her country just for the sake of clout chasing? I encourage the necessary security agencies to bring her to book forthwith.” the statement read.
Agbomhere who is also the Director General, Door to Door For Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidency, a campaign organization dedicated to President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, alleged that Senator Natasha is in cahoots with individuals such as Martin Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan, Barrister Deji Adeyanju and Omoyele Sowore, all of whom claim to be advocates for the masses and working restlessly with the opposition to mislead gullible citizens from appreciating the gains of the President Bola Tinubu and APC led administration, while behind closed doors are lobbying and begging to be engaged to work for the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027.
“Senator Natasha has satirically realized that the Nigerian Senate, like the British House of Lords, and the Senate of the United States of America, is an institution that has the powers, without fear of blackmail, to reprimand its erring members. Senator Natasha has satirically accepted the Senator Godswill Akpabio remains the uncommon, infallible and unbeatable President of the Senate who will continue to act as such, unshakable and committed to the good governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Whether by Satire, Idiom or Innuendo, She has a choice to either apologize sincerely for her indiscipline, malicious falsehood, and treasonable actions or remain suspended and keep missing out from those beautiful working-visit pictures she loves to take with the Handsome, Uncommon and Adorable President of the Nigerian Senate.
“I encourage the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio to continue to work hand-in-hand with the Executive Arm of the Federal Government to succeed, and no amount of blackmail and grandstanding by the opposition will stop President Bola Tinubu from returning to Aso Rock in 2027.” the statement concluded.

Barau tasks TPI to extend it’s ideals to Nation’s Parliament,Political Parties, ECOWAS  subregion  ….pledges NASS support to Institute

Deputy President of Senate, Barau Jibrin
Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin has called on the newly established Democratic Institute to instill it’s Democratic values to  the nation’s legislature, political parties and the West African subregion.
This is even  as he has pledged the support of the National Assembly to the programmes and policies of the Institute.
Addressing the Director General an top management staff of The Progressive Institute when they paid him a courtesy visit in his office, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin recalled his experience at the National Democratic Institute of the United States while in the House of Representatives years ago.
According to the deputy Senate President the training he received from the institute impacted so much on his parliamentary practice.
“I was one of those that witnessed the unveiling of the Institute. And I’m one of the admirers and supporters of this Institute and what it stands for. I am doing this wholeheartedly for several reasons.
“One of the reasons, of course, is that I’m a beneficiary of a similar Institute from a foreign land. And since when I go from that Institute, I’ve been praying that we have a similar body in Nigeria. And when I heard the news through the National Chairman that this Institute was coming on board, I was delighted.
“Because I remember 25 or 26 years ago, when I won the election to represent the Tairani constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. We got a call and a letter from the National Democratic Institute of the United States. Which is a similar body owned by the Democratic Party of the United States.
“That body, that Institute, decided to come here to give us intensive training. Respect on how to go into the legislature of this country. Because at that time, there was a gap,” he noted.
Continuing Jibrin said,”There was a long period of time that we didn’t have a legislature in this country. Because of the military intervention, our politics then. So almost everything about the legislature was forgotten.
“It was the NDI who came and taught us, in the classroom style, on how to go into the legislature of this country. On how to conduct ourselves. And we gained a lot from what we were taught.
“So the training we got made us stand out amongst the set of legislators we have in this country. The legislators of the Fourth National Assembly were very much vast in the Arab legislature. That’s where you had the likes of Gali Omanaba.
“And even Massari was also part of the team. And so we’re very, very, very strong in terms of legislative experience or legislative knowledge. Because I wouldn’t say experience because I knew then.
“But the knowledge was there. And we worked very hard. We did very well.
‘Based on our performance there. Courtesy of what we were taught by the NDI. So I was delighted that we are going to have a similar party in Nigeria.
“So I was very, very happy. So that’s why I was really, I commend all of you, commend the national chairman. So my commendation goes to the national chairman.”
He warned the management of the Institute not to limit the gains from the Institute to only the All Progressive Congress but to all political parties in the country and beyond.
“And of course all of you for bringing this institute into our country. And it’s not going, all I know is that it’s not going to be to the benefit of APC as a party. No, no, no, no.
“It’s not going to be. It’s a journey for the entire democracy in this country. Not even this country.
“In the entire region. I thank God I’m the first deputy speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament. So I will also want to plead.
“I also want to extend your tentacles beyond the confines of this country. Try to reach out to us. And even I know we have different ideologies.
‘We have two conservatives within the legislators in the ECOWAS Parliament. But then, yes, you are going to be very useful. Please extend your tentacles to the ECOWAS Parliament.
“Just like the NDI extended its tentacles to Nigeria, from far away America, to Nigeria. And indeed, there was something again. The same NDI sponsored us when we started.
“After the initial training. After a year, it came on board. The members of the appropriations committee, which I was heading then.
“I was the chairman then. They took us to the US Congress, to the Brazilian Parliament, and other areas. For us to study fiscal federalism.”
Jibrin noted that,”To understand fiscal federalism. Because the operating systems are similar to ours. So it’s the same NDI that did that.
“So they were just everywhere to promote democracy. So I’m glad that you’re on board. And you’ve started the same pattern.
“The training, the event that was held a few months ago. I was also talking about entrepreneurship. Looking at how we can promote entrepreneurship amongst our youth.
“Also to make them useful to themselves. So it was something good. Something that we really need as a nation.
“Because we have the abundance of young people. So it’s really good that we teach them the necessary traits. That will help them to live their lives.
“And also try to bring entrepreneurship into the entire arrangement for the betterment of our people. Which is very, very good. Now, you are now coming with this.
” I commend you for what you’ve done. And I commend the national chairman for his foresight.
“For his innovative ideas. Because whatever you do, if you don’t bring innovation, you go nowhere. And you’ve done something that is in tandem with the current contemporary happenings in the world.
“Innovation. Wherever you find yourself, try to be innovative.
“And this is what you’ve done by setting up this very, very important body. So I will support whatever you do. Whatever you bring before me.
“And I want to assure you that I’m going to go in line with what you’ve put forward. With little amendment. I’m not a senator for North alone.”
Earlier, Director General, The Progressive Institute (TPI) Dr Olanrewaju Adebayo explained that to strengthen the community through giving our youths capacities, skills in governance and leadership.
“And so, these are some of the examples of what we’re doing. So coming home to Kano, we’ve seen all the things you’ve been doing for the party leaders, and we think that we can also provide some kind of support in that area.

“Given your commitment to the party, your leadership of the party, we propose a kind of retreat for leaders at the state level. Again, trying to provide a non, I wouldn’t say political, but still a political environment, but a non-controversial, or I say controversial, an environment where party leaders can interact without competing. Where they can interact and engage in discussing common issues concerning the party.
“Issues of leadership, issues of financing. Issues of review of what we’ve done in the last two years. Because by May 2029, we will have been two years in government.
“How far have we done in terms of managing the party at the state level? And what we can do more? And then reviewing the manifesto of the party in the last two years in terms of implementation. What we can do for the next two years, as well as planning for 2027. 2027 is very close by,” he noted.
The DG further said,”We want to support and participate in that area. We want to be also party leaders to discuss party organization, internal communication, issues of finances, and also looking at the political environment in Canada. Very important.
“That’s part of planning. So we have developed four options, or five options, four options. One of the options is to have a retreat for principal officers of the EPC from the 13 local government areas and 151 wards in Canada.
“That is one option. The other option is to look at local government chairman and secretaries of wards. And of course the fourth, the third option is local government and wards chairman.
“And the final one, which is more comprehensive, is to look at all party leaders from the 13 local government areas and 151 wards in Canada. Now we are doing this as part of the TPI national project to take a stock of what we’ve done in the last two years. What are the challenges? What are the issues? And encourage our leaders to focus attention on this one and prepare for how we can address some of the challenges, some of the gaps.
“And that is the only way the party will remain strong, resilient, and be an example to others. You know, when you look at Nigerian political environment now, I don’t think we have many. I don’t think we have a party that can challenge EPC.
“But we have to keep on working. We have to keep on working very hard to ensure that the leadership God has given to us will stay. We have to work under our leaders like Senator Jibril to make sure that EPC leads and provide the direction for the future.
“And one of the areas is ideology. Ideology is to change the political environment in our country. We need to stop all this mundane, petty discussion on the media.
“People talking about sexual harassment. We should be just talking about governance. Serious issues that affect our people.
“But we need to. APC has that responsibility as a party to provide that leadership. That is why we are here, sir.
“I would like, therefore, sir, before I present to you a proposal in this area. The Institute and other principal officers of this esteemed Institute. Other guests that are here.”

Speaking under the aegis of Ndi Igbo Progressive Traditional Rulers Council, the Royal fathers led by their chairman, His Royal Majesty, Eze Nnamdi Oforegbu from Abia State during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu in Umuahia, Abia state at the weekend said that Tinubu has impacted so much on the South East economy.

They also commended the Deputy Speaker for his legislative ingenuity, particularly his effort in sponsoring the bill that led to the creation of the Commission.
The monarchs offered their royal blessings and special prayer to God for more wisdom and political growth.
He said: “We are here to thank you. You’re doing more than we expected. That has never happened before. We’ve not seen this kind of good works before.
“You sponsored a bill that enabled us to get South East Development Commission (SEDC). We’ve never seen anything like it. We are praying to the Almighty God to bless you.
“We are grateful to President Bola Tinubu for appointing our sons and brothers, as the pioneer heads of the SEDC. As you promoted our brothers, God will also raise you above your imagination.
“We are here to thank you for all you’ve done and show our support to Mr President. Continue the good work. It shall be well with you. You’ve shown capacity, that’s why I said there must be continuity from this ladder to the next.
“We want to meet the President to also thank him. He made our own a Deputy Speaker, gave us SEDC and so many other developments and appointments given to Ndi Igbo.
“We assure him our votes, 70 percent of our votes in the next election. We are promising you we are behind you, keep succeeding. If there’s anywhere you need us to speak, let us know and we will be there. We see all you’re doing. We are with you. May God bless you”.

Deputy Speaker,Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu

In his response, the Deputy Speaker, Kalu according to a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary Levinus Nwabughiogu commended the traditional rulers for their decision to support the President in 2027.
He emphasized that the President’s actions towards the South East region, including the appointment of Igbo sons to key positions, warranted their loyalty.
He said: “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is an example of loyalty and a rewarder of loyalty. He doesn’t forget anything you do for him. If you give him a cup of water, 10 years after, he will remember that you gave him that a cup of water. And he will reward you. You saw how he fought during the election and how we stood for him.
“For eight years before him, Igbos did not occupy any position in the leadership succession ladder of the country. We have not been anywhere for 8 years. They kept telling us that we don’t have votes. Yet he remembered us and gave us Deputy Speaker; gave us Chief of Naval Staff that is controlling the water ways including oil and gas that Nigeria depends on; gave us the Minister of Works.
“And I know with your promise as traditional rulers, we will give him nothing less than 70% of our vote. We will no longer waste our vote, we will invest it not waste it and I’m sure that Mr President will be very happy”.
Kalu also reassured the traditional rulers of the parliament’s commitment to giving them a constitutional role, recognizing their crucial contributions to national unity, peace, and security.
“Let me also inform you that we are fighting and we will give you a place in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will give you voice in the constitution because you’re doing a lot. Traditional rulers, you’re doing a lot for national unity and national cohesion, for the peace and security of our rural communities. The President also respects traditional rulers so much”, the Deputy Speaker added.

INEC tasks NASS to speedy action on Review of Electoral Act  *Says amendment offers  Nigerians in Diaspora platform to vote

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu

By George Mgbeleke,Abuja

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the ongoing review of the electoral legal framework to ensure timely implementation of reforms ahead of future elections.

NASS complex

Prof. Yakubu made the appeal during his opening remarks at a two-day retreat with the Joint Committee of the National Assembly on Electoral Matters, held at the Marriott Hotel, Lagos, from Monday, April 28, to Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Reflecting on past electoral reforms, the INEC Chairman recalled a similar retreat held five years ago in March 2020, which contributed significantly to the repeal and re-enactment of the Electoral Act 2010, culminating in the current Electoral Act 2022.

He emphasized the importance of such retreats, noting that they offer a deeper and more focused engagement on electoral matters than conventional public hearings.

“For us in INEC, the coming together of lawmakers, who also have field experience as practising politicians, and the Commission as the election management body, is a positive development for electoral reform in Nigeria,” Yakubu stated.

Highlighting one of the major gains from previous reforms, the INEC boss pointed to the amendment that extended the period between party primaries and the general election to 180 days.

This change, he said, “addressed persistent logistical challenges that had led to election postponements in the past

Under the 2010 Electoral Act (as amended), the Commission had just 60 days between the conclusion of party primaries and the conduct of the general election. This time constraint severely impacted our logistics, especially the production and delivery of sensitive materials such as ballot papers and result sheets,” he explained.”

Yakubu disclosed that INEC had initially requested a full year between primaries and elections but eventually accepted the 180-day provision agreed by lawmakers. The adjustment, he affirmed, “was pivotal to the successful and timely conduct of the 2023 General Election, which, for the first time in three electoral cycles, was not postponed due to logistical challenges.”

Additionally, the INEC Chairman celebrated another milestone achieved during the 2023 elections: the complete localization of ballot paper and result sheet production. “For the first time since the restoration of democracy in 1999, not a single sheet of paper for the 2023 General Election was printed outside Nigeria. Everything was done within the country, earning the Commission commendation from the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON),” Yakubu noted with pride.

Everything was done within the country, earning the Commission commendation from the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON),” Yakubu noted with pride.

Continuing the Chairman noted that in its recent submission on electoral reforms, INEC advocated for the amendment of Sections 77(2), 117(1), 132(5), and 178(5) of the 1999 Constitution to provide legal backing for diaspora, inmates, and early voting for essential service workers.

According to the commission, Nigerians working overseas, election personnel on duty during polls, and citizens incarcerated but not convicted of crimes should not be disenfranchised.

Allowing them to vote, the Commission argued, would strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and broaden civic participation.

Interestingly, democracies increasingly recognizes the voting rights of citizens living abroad, stressing that Nigeria must not be left behind.

The call is part of broader efforts to reform the electoral framework following lessons from the 2023 general election. “The right to vote is fundamental,” the Commission said, urging lawmakers to expedite the necessary constitutional amendments to make out-of-country voting a reality by future election cycles.

There have been a growing movement for the inclusion of Nigeria’s diaspora community in the country’s electoral process, with advocates arguing that millions of citizens abroad deserve the right to vote.
