Benue Massacre: Equip military with sophisticated weapons to flush out terrorists in Nigeria-NSF tasks FG By George Mgbeleke Saddened by the recent massacre of over 200 helpless citizens of Benue State, the Northern Senators to adequately fund the military to acquire Morden weapons to flush out terrorists and others of criminality in Nigeria. The Forum in a statement signed by its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua said it is deeply saddened by the recent violent attacks in Benue State, resulting in loss of lives and property. The statement reads in part,”We extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray for their eternal rest. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured. “The NSF commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the affected areas, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing security challenges. “We urge the federal government to follow up with concrete actions to ensure justice and prevent future occurrences.” The NSF called for increased funding for the military and other security agencies to acquire the necessary modern equipment needed to prosecute the war against terrorists and insurgents. Furthermore, the forum called for inter-agency collaboration adding that it is crucial; “we urge the government to facilitate regular dialogue and coordination among security agencies. “The NSF remains committed to working with the government and stakeholders to address security challenges. “We urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. Together, we can build a safer and more prosperous nation.”
