Apparently worried by the incessant sit at home on Mondays by Anambra State Civil servants, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has warned and ordered the forfeiture of salaries of teachers and non tutorial staff that fail to report to duty every Monday. <\/p>\n
Hon. Mgbemena Loveth, the Board Secretary, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, sounded the note of warning, on behalf of the Executive Chairman.<\/p>\n
According to her, the order, termed, “Executive order on termination of Monday sit at home,” read in part thus; “Sequel to the state executive retreat held on 21st of January 2026, presided over by Governor Soludo, I am directed to inform you that the state government has directed and also as a decision that protracted Monday sit at home has been abolished with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
“By this directive any staff both tutorial and non tutorial that fail to attend to school or office on Mondays will either receive 20 per cent of his or her salary or forfeit it entirely.<\/p>\n
“You are to bring the content of his letter to all staff under you and ensure complete compliance.”<\/p>\n
The order was copied, permanent Board members, officers in charge of the 21 local government areas of the state, zonal directors, and all departmental directors at the ASUBEB headquarters, Awka, state capital.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that since the issuance of the order, palpable fear gripped most of the civil servants in the state and they reportedly expressed their feelings stating that enforcement of the order should commence from the members of the state House of Assembly.<\/p>\n
A civil servant who pleaded anonimity said they have nothing to protect themselves with in the event of any catastroph adding that they should be provided with security escorts if government wants them to come to work on Mondays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
