Otti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent <\/p>\n<p>In an effort to ensure that his party participated at forthcoming Area Council election,  Abia State Governor  Dr Alex Otti has  thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognizing the Interim National Committee of the Labour Party and uploading the names of the Leadership on their website in line with the order of the court.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Otti who chaired the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Interim National Committee of the Labour Party  informed the press that the NEC and the Interim National Committee of the Labour Party had resolved as follows to set up the timetable for the Labour Party congresses from the Wards, Local Governments, States, Zonal, culminating in the National Convention. The congresses are scheduled to start in March, 2026,to begin the revalidation of membership and registration of new members with a committee set up to drive the exercise,to set up a reconciliation committee to reconcile anyone who is willing and desires to come back to the party, and called on Bar. Julius Abure and his team, to sheath their sword and come back to the party while calling on Nigerians to join the Labour Party.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Otti informed the press that the leadership of the Labour Party at the highest level regretted the exit of the former leader of the party and former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, from the party and wished him well while urging the party to come together to form a stronger political force.<\/p>\n<p> The NEC acknowledged that the party had lost some members especially those elected under the party platform at the National Assembly and some caretaker committee officers who had been replaced, maintaining that the party remains strong.
