{"id":10939,"date":"2026-02-08T21:01:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T21:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=10939"},"modified":"2026-02-08T21:02:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T21:02:43","slug":"bayelsa-govt-recommits-to-accountability-and-transparency-in-financial-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2026\/02\/08\/bayelsa-govt-recommits-to-accountability-and-transparency-in-financial-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Bayelsa govt Recommits To Accountability and Transparency in Financial Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By David Owei <\/p>\n<p>Bayelsa state government over the weekend says it has spent over 140 billion naira for capital projects between the month of October to December 2025 and will continue render accountability and transparency in governance.<\/p>\n<p>Though, the state government had deficits in the month of November and December but still have a balance of over 45 billion naira as at the end of December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing journalists during the monthly Transparency Briefing at the Ministry of Finance conference room, the Technical Adviser to the governor on Account and Treasury Mr. Timipre Seipulo while rendering the state account said, the state government received over 192 billion naira between the month of October to December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the state Internally Generated Revenue( IGR ) for the three months amounted to over 11 billion naira. Saying the over 192 billion naira for the three are from Federal Allocation Account Committee (FAAC) while the rest comes from other sources including IGR.<\/p>\n<p>The state as at the end of December 2025 has a balance of over 45 billion naira.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking earlier, the state commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy Mrs Koku Obiyai said the transparency Briefing backed by law is to share with everyone of the achievements of Bayelsa state government through the management of it&#8217;s resources to the benefits of all in an accountable manner. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since the last transparency Briefing we held, the government has continued to invest in ongoing projects, especially roads infrastructure across the state, ongoing bridges are reaching their final stages of completion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While roads are achieving new milestones, work at the new stadium at Igbogene is receiving all necessary attention, government is meeting up with it&#8217;s obligation to contractors at schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The Gas Turbine has reached a critical stage of installation and commissioning, this is one project that is dear to the state and we believe that in a matter of days few weeks, we will see light everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The government has been working tirelessly to diversify the state Economy, we have made serious investment in Agriculture, blue economy and marine transport. We are committed to promote tourism and create jobs opportunities for our people. As part of our efforts, we can say that the government has made a significant efforts in the aviation sector. We have recently acquired two aircraft and possibly by God&#8217;s Grace after going through the necessary requirements from the federal government , we will start to do business in air travels and this state we become an aviation hub.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a government,we have also made some efforts to increase our economy by all ramifications and we believe that as a government, this efforts will make our state more attractive to investors and tourist. As we are committed to transparency and accountability, we will continue to inform you about our progress and achievement .
