The long awaited Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which took off on Friday came to a happy conclusion in the early hours of Saturday retaining key leaders in its National Working Committee (NWC) and reaffirming confidence in their leadership. <\/p>\n
The outcome of the Convention shows Professor Nentawe Yilwatda remaining National Chairman, with Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary while Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole retained his position as National Leader for Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n
The 8th National Convention, which was held in Abuja saw continuity and change, with Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye elevated to the post of Deputy National Chairman (South). The consensus-driven list was shaped by unity and zoning considerations, with governors influencing state-allocated positions.<\/p>\n
Yilwatda in his remarks pledged to deepen unity and advance national development, saying, “We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation.”<\/p>\n
The event drew top officials, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. The new NWC blends returning and new members, with a mix of expertise and institutional continuity.<\/p>\n
The convention demonstrated the party’s ability to manage internal interests through consensus, positioning the APC for future electoral success. Attention now shifts to policy direction, party expansion, and election preparations, officials disclosed.<\/p>\n
The full NWC list includes key officers across portfolios like publicity, welfare, youth, and legal departments, reinforcing stability and growth.<\/p>\n
