Wailing,sorrow, agony, and anxiety in Gari ya waye community of Angwan, Jos North local government of Plateau State as 28 persons were reportedly kille with several others injured, following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen on palm Sunday.<\/p>\n
Following the ugly incident,yuth leaders in the area confirmed the casualty figure, describing the attack, which occurred on Palm Sunday night, March 28, 2026, around 7:50 pm as coordinated and devastating.<\/p>\n
The incident threw the community into panic as residents fled amid heavy gunfire.<\/p>\n
Daily Echoes Media gathered from sources that 28 lifeless bodies were recorded as eyewitness and community leaders said the attackers stormed the area, shooting indiscriminately at residents before fleeing.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Monday when Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the scene of the incident, Comrade Samson Chiroma, Coordinator Northern zone, Plateau Youth Council alongside Chairman Plateau State Youth Council and youth leaders of Angwan Rukuba, said the government should reverse 48 hours curfew earlier imposed with immediate effects.<\/p>\n
“We want to open up to you sir about what happened yesterday around 7:30pm at night. People were sitting down, doing their legitimate businesses they now heard shooting anyhow with guns as some of the attackers were holding matchets which is very unfortunate.<\/p>\n
“Most of them are wearing half- camo with a Hausa vile, and they started shooting sporadically and in summary right now we have 28 corpses while others are currently hospitalised.<\/p>\n
“Sir, it will interest you to know in less than 5 minutes or 15 minutes we now discover two vehicles of Army which they gave assailants cover and they ran through Gari Ya waye.<\/p>\n
“The most unfortunate part is that when the youths intend to follow the attackers they were stop by the Army as the attackers are speaking Fulani dialect”, Chiroma alleged.<\/p>\n
He further explained, “We appeal that the person who make video which went viral online that after Eid-el-fitr celebration they will attack Angwan and other places, that such person and those who attacked Angwan Rukuba should be arrest and prosecuted.”<\/p>\n
The youths insisted that there
\nwill be no mass burial for the deceased.<\/p>\n
Condoling families that lost their love ones as a result of the terror act, governor Caleb Mutfwang appreciate the youths for not taking the laws into their hands.<\/p>\n
Governor Mutfwang appeal for calm and vigilance among citizens as government in collaboration with security agencies assiduously to unrival the perpetrators and brought them to justice.<\/p>\n
The governor also promised that government will reach out to each of the deceased family in respect to the burial arrangements as well as upset medical bills of those in medical facility.<\/p>\n
Our correspondent also reports that all corpses were moved to the mob.<\/p>\n
