Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha also my known as WAD, formally defected to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) alongside Hon. Selekebina Saboh and over 10,000 enthusiastic supporters at the Bayelsa State Secretariat of the NDC on Monday, March 30, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Despite heavy rainfall, the atmosphere remained electric as women, youths, and community leaders danced joyfully under the downpour in a remarkable demonstration of loyalty and belief in the NDC\u2019s vision. The Mega Defection Rally quickly transformed into a celebration of unity, resilience, and renewed political purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha described the moment as \u201ca defining turning point\u201d in his political journey and that of his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>> \u201cToday, we have not just defected\u2014we have aligned with a movement driven by vision, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people. The rain could not deter us because our conviction runs deeper than the storm. This is the beginning of a new chapter for Bayelsa,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>The rally was further energized by thrilling musical performances from Alfred Izonebi, popularly known as JKing, and Barrister S. Smooth, whose performances became the highlight of what many described as a \u201creflection ceremony of hope and renewal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Dauyegha paid glowing tribute to the National Leader and Founder of the NDC, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, praising his statesmanship, consistency, and dedication to democratic ideals.<\/p>\n<p>> \u201cSenator Henry Seriake Dickson remains a pillar of visionary leadership and a symbol of political courage. His unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and development continues to inspire a new generation of leaders. It is an honour to join a movement he has so diligently built.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Expressing optimism about the future, Dauyegha emphasized that the massive turnout at the rally signals a growing wave of support that will shape the political landscape in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p>> \u201cWith the energy we witnessed today, there is no doubt that the NDC is poised for a resounding impact in the 2027 general elections and beyond. The people are ready. The momentum is real. And together, we will chart a new course for our state and our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Selekebina Saboh also echoed similar sentiments, reaffirming his commitment to mobilizing grassroots support and strengthening the party\u2019s presence across Bayelsa State.<\/p>\n<p>National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Moses Cleopas flanked by the South South Coordinator of the NDC and the Bayelsa State Chairman of NDC, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, his counterpart from Delta State, Dr Angiamaowei, and other Bayelsa Working Committee members who received the defectors in their numbers at the Grand reception ceremony. <\/p>\n<p>The Mega Defection Rally in Yenagoa, was witnessed by the other top NDC Stakeholders such as Hon. Wisdom Fafi, Hon. God bless Oyinke, Dr O.O. Osusu, Chief Fyneman Wilson, Chief Suru Oyarede, Hon.
