{"id":12574,"date":"2026-04-09T04:05:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=12574"},"modified":"2026-04-09T04:05:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:05:28","slug":"nigerias-oil-production-climbs-to-1-84mbpd-peak-on-enhanced-pipeline-protection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2026\/04\/09\/nigerias-oil-production-climbs-to-1-84mbpd-peak-on-enhanced-pipeline-protection\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria\u2019s oil production climbs to 1.84mbpd peak on enhanced pipeline protection-"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced a significant rebound in Nigeria\u2019s crude oil production, attributing the improvement to the deployment of an integrated energy security system for pipelines across the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company, national crude oil output, which dropped to a historic low of 960,000 barrels per day in 2022, has now risen to an average of 1.71 million barrels per day, with a peak production of 1.84 million barrels per day recorded in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, disclosed this development during the Parliamentary Roundtable on the State of Pipelines Security held at the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, Andy Odeh, Ojulari emphasized that the progress recorded was deliberate rather than coincidental. He explained that it stemmed from the implementation of a comprehensive \u201cintegrated energy security model.\u201d<br \/>\nThe model, he noted, encompasses legislative and executive policy alignment, actionable intelligence gathering, kinetic response capabilities, regulatory oversight, industry collaboration, and surveillance systems embedded within host communities.<\/p>\n<p>Ojulari further stated that the renewed growth in crude oil production was largely driven by the successful containment of oil theft and widespread pipeline vandalism; two long-standing challenges in the sector. <\/p>\n<p>He added that these efforts have also helped restore investor confidence in Nigeria\u2019s oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n<p>In his welcome remarks, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who was represented by Jimoh Ibrahim, called for stronger collaboration among relevant agencies and stakeholders to address lingering obstacles to production growth.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, represented by the House Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, urged participants at the forum to critically assess progress made so far, with an emphasis on fairness and equity in the implementation of security measures.<\/p>\n<p>The Parliamentary Roundtable on the State of Pipelines Security was convened by the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources. <\/p>\n<p>The event drew high-level participation, including the Senate President, Speaker of the House, National Security Adviser, Minister of Defence, and representatives from key oil industry regulatory bodies.<br \/>\nAlso present at the roundtable were security chiefs and stakeholders who delivered presentations, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the Department of State Services, Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as representatives of private security firms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced a significant rebound in Nigeria\u2019s crude oil production, attributing the improvement to the deployment of an integrated energy security system for pipelines across the Niger Delta.
