To ameliorate the acute scarcity of water at the Minna old Medium SecurityCustodial Centre ,the Chief Judge of Niger State,Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has procured four truck tires of water tanker to the Custodial facility.<\/p>\n
This was sequel to the visit to the Chief Judge by the State Controller CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo where he requested the Judge for her assistance to procure the tires.<\/p>\n
The inmates at the Minna Medium Security have been without water for their domestic use in the last six months subjecting the inmates to trekking a long distance to source for water for their domestic use.<\/p>\n
It was observed that the only existing bore-hole in the Old Minna Medium Security Custodial facility has dried up without functioning in the last six months, subjecting the convicted inmate to untold hardship to source for water.<\/p>\n
The Chief Judge, while donating the four tires to the State Controller,stated that the donation will go a long way to reduce the suffering of the convicted inmates to the barest level to source for the commodity.<\/p>\n
She told the Controller to make proper utilisation of the four tires to cushion the plight of the inmates already convicted serving their jail terms at the Custodial facility,assuring that she will continue to impact on their lives despite being in the Custody.<\/p>\n
Receiving the donation of the tires on behalf of the Controller General of the Correction (CGC) Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche,the Niger State Controller CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo described the donation as a real demonstration of genuine concern for the well-being of persons in Custody.<\/p>\n
He noted that the kind hearted gesture of the Chief Judge will further strengthen the already established synergies between the Niger State Judiciary and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NicoS)<\/p>\n
\u201c My Lord. Your timely support has further restored the water tanker to full operational capacity by ensuring consistent clean water supply to the facility. This gesture has significantly improved sanitation,hygiene and general wellbeing of inmates and staff\u201d Seyi Ogunleye stated.<\/p>\n
While commending the Chief Judge for her support to the Niger State Command of the Service,,Controller Ogulnleye Seyi Oladipupo,expressed the Controller General of the Service profound to the Chief Judge for the kind hearted gesture to the inmates<\/p>\n
He called on other well meaning individuals, corporate bodies and philanthropists to emulate His Lordship’s in supporting the Nigerian Correctional Service to carry out its statutory mandate of Reformation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration offenders back to the society as well behaved productive and law abiding citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
