Following the current wave of defections in from one political party to another, the minority leader of the Senate, Senator Tony Nwoye has dumped the African Democratic Congress for the Nigerian Democratic Congress, citing deepening internal crisis within the party.<\/p>\n
Recall that Senator Nwoye who recently left Labour Party (LP) for ADC and was announced as Senate Minority Whip barely three weeks ago dumped ADC for NDC.<\/p>\n
The Anambra born politician at the commencement of today’s plenary resigned his membership of ADC and defection was formally communicated in a letter presented on the floor of the Senate during Wednesday\u2019s plenary, presided over by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.<\/p>\n
In the letter, the lawmaker linked his decision to leave ADC to persistent divisions and a series of legal disputes involving the party. <\/p>\n
He noted that multiple cases at the Federal High Court, along with a recent ruling have significantly weakened the party\u2019s cohesion and stability.<\/p>\n
The senator also highlighted the negative impact of the crisis on the party\u2019s coalition framework, stressing that the situation has made effective functioning increasingly difficult.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
