President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved N21 billion for the construction of the Oko-Olowo Junction Flyover in Ilorin, Kwara State following sustained pressure from Senator Saliu Mustapha representing Kwara Central Senatorial District.<\/p>\n
Senator Mustapha said the approval came months after he moved a motion in the Senate demanding urgent action to tackle accidents and traffic gridlock at the busy junction.<\/p>\n
In a statement by his Media Assistant, Nasif Sholagberu, the lawmaker described the approval as a timely intervention that will improve road safety, ease congestion, and boost economic activity along one of Kwara\u2019s busiest corridors.<\/p>\n
The Oko-Olowo project is among 27 road interventions in 15 states under the Federal Government\u2019s push to upgrade infrastructure and improve nationwide connectivity.<\/p>\n
Senator Mustapha recalled moving the motion on November 26, 2024, citing recurring accidents and congestion at Oko-Olowo. <\/p>\n
The lawmaker said he later lobbied the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, to advance the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thank President Tinubu for responding to the aspirations of Kwara people and for his commitment to delivering critical infrastructure across the country,\u201d Senator Mustapha said.<\/p>\n
