{"id":15211,"date":"2026-07-04T07:46:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T07:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=15211"},"modified":"2026-07-04T07:46:04","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T07:46:04","slug":"61-opolo-epie-youths-benefit-from-different-vocations-with-starter-packs-hrh-eniya-nengibo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2026\/07\/04\/61-opolo-epie-youths-benefit-from-different-vocations-with-starter-packs-hrh-eniya-nengibo\/","title":{"rendered":"61 Opolo-Epie Youths Benefit From Different Vocations With Starter Packs. &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.HRH Eniya Nengibo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By David Owei,Bayelsa <\/p>\n<p>The Paramount Ruler of Opolo-Epie community in Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa State, HRH Eniya Nengibo has disclosed that 61 youths from the community were recently trained and given starter packs as part of activities marking the 34th annual festival of the community.<\/p>\n<p>HRH Eniya Nengibo who stated this while speaking with news men at his palace in Yenagoa further noted that the training coupled with the starter packs are practical ways of empowering Opolo-Epie youths to be useful not only to themselves but also to the community and the society as a whole, stressing that the period of the annual festival were collectively chosen as the appropriate time to actualise the empowerment scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The monarch also opined that the festival is  embraced by all and sundry as a unifying factor that usually bring together all the sons and daughters of the community both at home and in diaspora and from all walks of life to celebrate with the spirit of oneness and unity of purpose that usually lasts for one week.<\/p>\n<p>While tracing the history and origin of the festival, HRH Eniya Nengibo disclosed that the festival is a practical way to remember what happened in ancient times when Opolo-Epie women were forced to pay taxes by the colonialists just as the Aba women which was bluntly rejected and a prolonged protests ensued and in the process, one of them died, adding that the people came together to remember the unfortunate incident in form of an annual festival.<\/p>\n<p>He however urged Opolo-Epie indigenes to be peaceful and law abiding as they celebrate the festival, adding that adequate security have been provided to project lives and property as the festival lasts.<\/p>\n<p>He also thanked the member representing the community in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon.
