\n\u200eThis was part of the Akwa Ibom declaration made at the end of a one-day Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Natural Resources Governance, Just Transition, Environmental Justice and Community Accountability which was held at De Angelo’s Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo Akwa Ibom State at the weekend.

\n\u200eThe commissioner for environment, Akwa Ibom State represented by Barr Ruth Umanah expounded the efforts of government in environmental services while urging collaboration among stakeholders to meet desire of having a greener environment for all.

\n\u200eAlso speaking at the dialogue, the chairman of Ibeno LGA Hon Dcns Glory Eka Effiong representated by the VC Hon Ukpong … while lauding inclusion of Ibeno as one of the host communities of oil companies into the dialogue, thanked Clement Isong Foundation for building Youth Hub in Ibeno and appealed that outcome of the dialogue should be impactful to environment.

\n\u200eHe insisted for consultation with host communities leaders by Oil companies and development partners before embarking on a project to avoid misplaced priorities that may not be beneficial to the community.

\n\u200eNOSDRA was not left out as the Zonal Head of the federal government agency seriously frowned at demonizing of regulators in the cause of talking about environmental protection, appealed for open mind devoid of sentiments by withdrawing objective points to salvage environmental issues.

\n\u200eOne of the major funder of the project, ActionAid Nigeria while highlighting some of the strategic partnership programmes they have been carrying out with Clement Isong Foundation in Akwa Ibom State, pledged to remain the championship of, Natural Resources Governance, just transition, environmental justice and community accountability in partnership with Clement Isong Foundation and AKEJA, stressing the need for strengthening of collaboration with mutual accountability and benefits for all, the reason the dialogue was necessitated,\u00a0 as it requested to guide government, companies, and communities to achieve a shared prosperity from natural resources.

\n\u200eAccording to the Executive Director, Clement Isong Foundation Mr Elkanah Oluyori the dialogue was aimed at achieving the objectives of getting justice for extractive industries, amplifying the opinion of less privilege and minority class of people in Host Communities Development Trust and ensure it’s catered for.

\n\u200eThe realities of situations of live in Ibeno LGA and other Riverline Communities is the focus of the dialogue said Elkanah while seeking negotiations, response and coalition, examining of PIA implementation, strengthen coordination and dissemination of information regarding it.

\n\u200eThe Executive Director Youth and Environmental and Advocacy Center and (YEAC) Fynface Fynface PhD expressed need to make theme of the dialogue a national issue especially the oil bearing communities filled with oil spillage and gas flaring and environmental degradation with absence of exploitation.

\n\u200eWhile insisting that oil bearing communities are protected against exploitation and future situation where oil would finish and advocated for establishment of Community Framework to drive justice over the three (3%) percent derivation from Oil extraction in line with the Petroleum Industry Acts (PIA) and the Freedom of Information Acts (FIA).
