{"id":16188,"date":"2026-08-02T04:40:51","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T04:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=16188"},"modified":"2026-08-02T04:40:51","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T04:40:51","slug":"osun-2026-inec-increases-bvas-deployment-by-703-raises-backups-to-1328","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2026\/08\/02\/osun-2026-inec-increases-bvas-deployment-by-703-raises-backups-to-1328\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun 2026: INEC increases BVAS deployment by 703, raises backups to 1,328"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to ensure the success of the Osun August 15 governorshop election,the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has increased the number of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices to be deployed for the August 15 Osun governorship election by 703, while doubling its backup devices to 1,328.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission increased the total number of BVAS devices from 4,427 to 5,130 following concerns raised by political parties over the adequacy of the devices ahead of the election.<\/p>\n<p>INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Saturday during an interactive session with media executives at the Commission\u2019s state office in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Amupitan said the additional 703 BVAS devices would help service split polling units in areas with large polling units, particularly in Ife East, Irewole, Egbedore, Ede North and Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>He noted  the Commission also increased the number of backup devices from 664 to 1,328 to ensure prompt replacement in the event of technical malfunction during voter accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cBased on some concerns expressed by some political parties on the number of BVAS deployed to the State, we have increased the total number of  BVAS for the election from 4,427 to 5,130 so as to service split polling units in large Pus in Ife East, Irewole, Egbedore, Ede NorthOsogbo.
