President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has been conferred with a Leadership Award of Excellence as the Best Performing Senator by the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Yobe State Chapter.<\/p>\n
Senator Lawan, who received the award on Friday during a recognition ceremony from the transport union, dedicated same to the people of Yobe North.<\/p>\n
The former President of the Senate noted that the honour reflects the collective aspirations of his constituents who gave him the mandate and the platform to serve.<\/p>\n
\u201cI dedicate this honour to the good people of Yobe North, who have given me the mandate and the platform to serve in my capacity as the senator representing the Senatorial District,\u201d Lawan said.<\/p>\n
He extended his gratitude to the Yobe State Executive Chairman of RTEAN, Hon. Isyaku Yusuf Gashu\u2019a, the entire Executive Council, and the entire membership of the association for finding him worthy of the recognition.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the significance of the award, Senator Lawan stated that it speaks to the heart of his legislative agenda, which focuses on connecting the people through critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Yobe North, we have prioritized the construction and rehabilitation of interstate and township roads because we understand that mobility is the lifeline of commerce and even physical security. Without passable roads, the transport sector cannot thrive, and our economy cannot grow in the way we need it. In fact, impassable roads lead to compromised security within our towns and settlements and our inter-city and inter-state roads,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Beyond road infrastructure, the Senator reiterated his commitment to economic empowerment, citing the strategic intervention of distributing buses and other vehicles for commuter services to constituents and organizations.<\/p>\n
This initiative, he explained, was designed to integrate transport workers into the formal economy, provide sustainable livelihoods, and ease the movement of people across the state and beyond.<\/p>\n
Senator Lawan also used the occasion to express appreciation to the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unprecedented level of interventions delivered to Yobe North Senatorial District and Yobe State at large.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never had so much intervention by the Federal Government as we had in the last eleven years. Recently, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved over nine billion Naira to continue with rehabilitation work on the Gashua to Bayamari road. We thank you, Mr. President,\u201d Lawan said.<\/p>\n
Addressing the leadership and members of the RTEAN directly, Senator Lawan described them as the engine room of the local economy, insisting that the award would serve as a challenge to redouble his efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
