The Commissioner of Police in Niger State CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman has pledged the Command preparedness to partner with the North Central Zonal headquarters of National Centres for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) to curb the proliferation of illicit arms in Niger State.<\/p>\n
CP Abdullahi Elleman also promised to maintain the already established working relationship with the centre in Niger State in ensuring the total eradication of the proliferation of illegal and Illicit arms and ammunitions in the state.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner gave the assurance while receiving the Director General National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo (RTD)during a courtesy visit to the Command headquarters in Dutsen- Kura Minna.<\/p>\n
CP Adamu Elleman reiterated the Command\u2019s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the NCCSALW stressing that the visit would further cement the already established synergies between the both organisations.<\/p>\n
He assured the Director General of the Command\u2019s unflishing support and cooperation in its efforts towards curbing the proliferation of illicit arms and enhancing public safety.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police further pledged to remit all arms and munitions recovered by the Command to the centre after the conclusion of investigations and other necessary through its appropriate channels in line with existing directives.<\/p>\n
While appreciating the director general for the visit even with his tight engagement, CP Adamu Elleman, further re-assured the DG of the Command continued partnership in ensuring the total curbing of proliferation of illicit arms and ammunition in Niger State.<\/p>\n
Speaking earlier, the Director General of NCCSALW,(DIG RTD) Johnson Babatunde Kokumo,described his visit to the Commissioner of Police as both official and symbolic.<\/p>\n
He recalled their working and professional relationship with the Commissioner of Police during his active service in the force and commended CP Elleman for his intellectual capacity,professionalism and unwavering leadership qualities, noting that the reunion was a source of personal overwhelm.<\/p>\n
The Director-General was accompanied by the Centre’s North Central Zonal Director, Mr. Abdullahi Adamu Eneche, along with other officials from the Centre’s Headquarters and Zonal Office, as part of his official visit to the North Central Zone.<\/p>\n
The D.G also appreciated the existing cooperation between the Niger State Police Command and the NCCSALW Zonal Office, emphasizing the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in addressing the proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons, which continue to fuel banditry and other violent crimes across the country.<\/p>\n
He underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to combating the menace through the establishment of the Centre and the subsequent strengthening of its legal and institutional framework.<\/p>\n
He further noted that the Centre operates through its Zonal offices established in each of the six geopolitical zones, with provisions for state offices across the thirty-six (36) states and FCT to enhance operational effectiveness nationwide.<\/p>\n
DIG Johnson Kokumo also commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu,for his unwavering support and cooperation with the Centre. He disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force has remitted over 11,000 recovered arms to the Centre for destruction, thus preventing their possible recirculation into the hands of criminal elements.<\/p>\n
He further acknowledged the IGP’s directive to all State Commands on transfer of recovered arms and ammunition to the Centre and described the initiative as a significant contribution to national security.<\/p>\n
While expressing appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation, the Director-General called for sustained collaboration and information sharing between the Command and the Centre in pursuit of their shared security objectives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
