{"id":17551,"date":"2026-09-12T21:03:33","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T21:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=17551"},"modified":"2026-09-12T21:03:33","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T21:03:33","slug":"bosso-lga-traditional-ruler-drags-to-minna-high-court-over-allegation-of-trespass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2026\/09\/12\/bosso-lga-traditional-ruler-drags-to-minna-high-court-over-allegation-of-trespass\/","title":{"rendered":"Bosso LGA Traditional Ruler drags to Minna High Court over allegation of Trespass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Uthman Baba-Naseer,Minna<\/p>\n<p>A traditional ruler of Jatai in Bosso   Local Government Area in Niger State Muhammadu Shehu Mai Angwa has been sued to a Minna High Court number Eight, for trespass.<\/p>\n<p>The Traditional ruler who is the Ward head of Jatai Community was said to have trespassed into a piece of land bought  by one Alhaji Babangida Sani Mundi in August 8th, 2012 from the wife of the Chairman of Munya Local Government Mr Denis Barde Mrs. Juliana Barde.<\/p>\n<p>According to a writ of summons filed at the court by a Minna based legal practitioner,Celestine Audu,Esq and obtained by our Judiciary Correspondent,the land in dispute was originally owned by one Ibrahim Mohammed Sambo who sold same land to Mr. Musa Bako on the 23rd February 2001.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c And Musa Bako sold the land in dispute to the late Chairman Mr. Denis Barde on the 8th of February,2005. While the plaintiff Babangida Sani Mundi bought the disputed land from the wife of the late council chairman,Mrs. Juliana Denis Barde on the 8th August 2012\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that after the plaintiff took ownership of the land in dispute,he  handed the land to one of his witnesses  to sell for a farming purpose on the same land.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney to the plaintiff told the Court that after ten years of possession of the land by the plaintiff, the defendant,the traditional ruler trespassed in the land claiming ownership of the same land.<\/p>\n<p>He told the court that the plaintiff  was given the entire original documents to the said disputed land after the payment for the deed of assignment was executed between the plaintiff and and the Widow of the late Chairman Mrs. Juliana Denis Barded evidencing sale of the said land.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c The defendant knows fully well that the land has been sold to the plaintiff, since the year. 2012 is hell bent on claiming the land from the plaintiff and unless this court intervenes the act of the defendant might lead to breakdown of law and order\u201d he told the court.<\/p>\n<p>He then prayed the court to declare the disputed land to the plaintiff as the rightful owner of the land having bought the said land from the legitimate and rightful owner of the land.<\/p>\n<p>He further prayed the court  for an order of injunction restraining the defendant from trespassing on the land adding that an order awarding special, aggravated,punitive,exemplary  damages against the defendant for trespass on the disputed land the sum of N2,000,000 as cost of litigation.<\/p>\n<p>However, the counsel to the defendant  Mohammed Isah Esq, told the court that he had filed a counter affidavit and served the counsel to the plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>While admitting the receipt of the counter affidavit, the Attorney to the Plaintiff Celestine Audu,Esq, told the court  that he had just served the counter affidavit \u201c and I need time to respond to the affidavit\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While adjourning the case, Justice Binta Bawa Rijau  adjourned the case to the 21st of September 2026 for the plaintiff to file his response to the affidavit .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Uthman Baba-Naseer,Minna A traditional ruler of Jatai in Bosso Local Government Area in Niger State Muhammadu Shehu Mai Angwa has been sued to a Minna High Court number Eight, for trespass.
