The Supreme Court of Nigeria has refused to grant a stay of execution on the Court of Appeal\u2019s judgment, which removed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared Hon. Udeh Okoye as the rightful occupant of the office.<\/p>\n
The apex court, during its sitting on Tuesday, upheld the decision of the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal, which had sacked Anyanwu and pronounced Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary.<\/p>\n
With this development, Okoye is now legally positioned to fully assume office, pending the final verdict from the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
However, the court granted Anyanwu\u2019s request for an accelerated hearing of the case and subsequently adjourned proceedings to March 10, 2025, when a final decision is expected.<\/p>\n
By refusing the stay of execution, the Supreme Court effectively validated the appellate court\u2019s decision, maintaining the status quo that Okoye remains the PDP National Secretary until the court delivers its final judgment.<\/p>\n
