{"id":2321,"date":"2025-02-26T06:52:17","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T06:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=2321"},"modified":"2025-02-26T06:52:17","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T06:52:17","slug":"court-remands-five-in-detention-over-alledge-killing-of-five-villagers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/02\/26\/court-remands-five-in-detention-over-alledge-killing-of-five-villagers\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands five in detention over alledge killing of five villagers\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">By Uthman Baba-Al-Naseer, Minna<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chief Magistrate Godiya Bawa Gwani of Minna Chief Magistrate court Number Six sitting at the High court complexe,has further ordered the continue remand of five persons in connection with killing\u00a0 of five villagers in Gbachiku village in Lapai Local Government area of Niger State.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The five defendants who were earlier standing trial on four count charges of Criminal conspiracy, Inciting Public disturbance, coursing grievous hurt and culpable homicide were ordered to be kept in the correctional facility Pending the completion of police Investigation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">At the Monday resumed sitting,the Police Prosecutor Inspector Aliyu Malami told the court that the case file of the defendants is yet to be forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) in the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He then requested the court for adjournment\u00a0 mentioned for the legal department of the State Criminal investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) of the Niger State Police Command to send the case file to the office of the DPP for legal advice.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The\u00a0 Police Prosecutor, Inspector Aliyu Malami,\u00a0 had earlier told the court that the four count charges were punishable under section 97,114, 248(2), and 221 of the penal code law.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The charge sheet marked MN\/ SMC\/ CR\/6\/2025.made available in court and obtained by this reporter stated that one Abdullahi Walaci and eight others\u00a0 all of Gbachiku village in Lapai\u00a0 in Niger State jointly reported\u00a0 to Chief Magistrate court Number three Minna\u00a0 that on the 1st of January,2025, &#8221; That you\u00a0 Bagudu Mayaki and five others now at large of Akwanu village in Agaie local government.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8221; You criminally conspired among yourselves with Dane guns Cutlasses\u00a0 and sticks and attacked them while passing through their village as a result one Usman\u00a0 Ibrahim,one Sani Usman,one\u00a0 Aminu Isah,Yunusa\u00a0 Umar,Ahmed Zakari, Musa Isyaku,Abdulkadir Saidu,Aliyu\u00a0 Ahmed and Mohammed Mohammed all of Gbachiku village sustained bullet injuries and they were rushed to General Hospital in Lapai and while one Ibrahim Walahi was rushed to Gwagwalada\u00a0 Specialist Hospital for treatment and doctor on duty confirmed him dead on arrival.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;While Aliyu Ahmed was admitted at FMC Bida was also confirmed dead on the 19th January,2025 as a result of the injuries sustained from the gun shots.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8221; Police Detectives swung into action and arrested you Angulu Mayaki\u00a0 and five others in connection to the case and during Investigation all the complainants identified you all to be among the persons who attacked them with weapons without any provocation.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">When the charges were earlier read to the defendants, by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Godiya Bawa Gwani (Mrs) they all Pleaded not guilty<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Chief Magistrate Godiya Bawa Gwani then ordered for their remand in Minna Medium Correctional Custody and adjourned the case to 31 of March,2025\u00a0 with directive to the police Prosecutor Inspector Aliyu Malami to forward the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor DPP in the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Uthman Baba-Al-Naseer, Minna Chief Magistrate Godiya Bawa Gwani of Minna Chief Magistrate court Number Six sitting at the High court complexe,has further ordered the continue remand of five persons in connection with killing\u00a0 of five villagers in Gbachiku village in Lapai Local Government area of Niger State.
