The Senate on Thursday at plenary suspended Senator Natasha Agboti Uduaghan for six months for violating its rules based on the recommendations of its committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.<\/div>\n

In a report by its committee read by its chairman, Senator Ned Nwoko, the upper chamber of National Assembly resolved that Natasha should proceed on six months Suspension with effect from March 6, 2025 for her misconduct and violation of its rules.<\/div>\n

The Senate\u00a0 also resolved that her salary and security details will be withdrawn during the period of her suspension.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It also resolved that during the period of suspension the embattled senator should not he seen within Senate premises and that her office should be under-lock and key while the salaries of her legislative Aides should be withheld until her period of suspension is either called off or completed.<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

Meanwhile Senators were allowed to react on the recommendations of the committee and at the end it was unanimously agreed that almost all the items in the committee’s recommendations were carried through a voice votes.<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

In their contributions both the Senators from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and those from the opposition parties including her own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (,PDP)condemned the action of senator Natasha and advised her to tender unreserved apology to the leadership of the Senate in particular and the upper chamber in general for dragging the sanctity of the hallow chamber to\u00a0 disrepute.<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
The recommendations were subsequently put to voice votes and the lawmakers unanimously agreed that the Senator representing Kogi Central be suspended for six months.<\/b><\/div>\n

She was also advised to take out time and study the Senate Standing Rules to guide her conduct in the chamber on completion of her period of suspension.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
However, through the intervention of the Senator Orji Uzo-Kalu who pleaded that the Natasha’s legislative Aides who were made to forfeit their salaries within the six months of the madam’s suspension in line with the Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition’s recommends should\u00a0 be allowed to receive their salaries during their principal’s suspension.<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile, while she was laid out of the\u00a0 chamber by Sergeant -At -Arm, Natasha exclaimed,”<\/b><\/span>This injustice will not be sustained,\u201d she said that before her microphone was turned off by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.<\/div>\n

Recall that Senator Natasha\u2019s recently sparked a controversy when she refused to move to the seat allocated to her citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules, which protects the privileges of members.<\/p>\n

Hence, the Senate referred her to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for disciplinary review.<\/p>\n

While the senate awaits the report of the committee, Senator Natasha accused Akpabio of sexual harassment on a live television programme.<\/p>\n

According to her, the Senate President is frustrating her because she refused to sleep with him. E<\/p>\n

Earlier, during the Senate\u2019s plenary session on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Senator Natasha resubmitted her harassment petition to the Senate after the initial petition was rejected<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
