Though,police kept mute on the casualty figure as at the time of this report, sources said over sixty persons may have been killed since the crisis began. Already,\u00a0 the Edo state governor, senator Monday Okpebholo has ordered the deployment of special squad from the police, military, DSS and civil defense corps to the crisis torn area.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div id=\"attachment_1211\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1211\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1211\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot_20250114-172934_1-300x279.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot_20250114-172934_1-300x279.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot_20250114-172934_1.jpg 520w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1211\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">IGP Kayode E<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The community largest market located on Uromi ubiaja road has been deserted while shop owners\u00a0 and traders have abandoned their business environment following fear of looting of their shops and attack. Life in Uromi community is now nightmare, said mr Lucky Okonofua, a resident. Sources have also confirmed the escalation of the crisis to neighboring Ughoha and Ubiaja communities.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The crisis reportedly began when a truck with registration number KKF225XA convening 25 passengers was halted for a check by the community vigilante following a tip-off. During a search, several locally made single and double\u00a0 barreled guns were discovered in the truck.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Obviously not satisfied with the explanation given for their mission, the vigilante reportedly alerted the police from the divisional headquarters Uromi. This reportedly led to loss of tempers by the Hausa-Fulanis the occupants of the vehicle. Feared that the travellers could be kidnappers, the vigilante quickly mobilized and got support of the people who launched attack on their suspected enemies.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0In a statement on Saturday, the command Spokesman, Moses Yamu, said when Police operatives attached to the Uromi Division got wind of the incident they swiftly stormed the scene where 10 of the travelers were rescued, two of whom sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to a hospital where they are currently positively responding to treatment.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to Yamu, &#8220;In the course of investigations, 14 suspected attackers were arrested in connection with the crime, while an emergency meeting was convened with stakeholders and members of the community to address the situation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Meanwhile,the Northern Senators Forum is deeply disturbed and saddened by the gruesome mob killings of innocent Nigerians in Uromi, Edo State on Thursday 27th March , 2025. These individuals, who were traveling to the Northern part of Nigeria, were tragically stereotyped as Fulani kidnappers and brutally murdered in a despicable manner.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-678\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/YarAdua-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/YarAdua-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/YarAdua.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a statement made available to the media, Chairman, Northern Senators ForumSen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar&#8217;Adua, said &#8220;We strongly condemn this heinous act, which is a clear violation of the fundamental human rights of the victims. We urge the Edo State Government to take immediate action to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of this gruesome murder.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the police and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, with a view to arresting the culprits. This swift action demonstrates the government&#8217;s commitment to upholding justice and protecting the rights of all citizens.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Continuing he said,&#8221;As stated in Section 41 of the Nigerian Constitution, every citizen has the right to freedom of movement and residence throughout the country. No citizen can be expelled from or refused entry into Nigeria. We must uphold these fundamental principles and ensure that all citizens are treated with dignity and respect.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We call on the Edo State Government, the security agencies, and all stakeholders to work together to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
