It is exciting but we need to make sure there is enough fuel, a good driver and a smooth road or the car might breakdown.

The government wants to reduce malpractice which is a huge challenge. Imagine if exams are as secure as the mobile banking apps, no more leaks in exams and impersonation. The goal is a huge one with its own hurdle but the bright side of this is that if it comes to play, it will give room for fairer exams. This will help Nigerian children use computers early, making them compete globally.

“There should be a backup plan while testing this modern model. We still need to alternate this with the paper exam incase the system falls.

“This is not about only the technology but fairness. Every child deserves a shot at success regardless of their location. If Nigeria invests wisely and avoid shortcuts, this could be a turning point. But if we cut corners, it is another good idea buried by poor execution. If all hands are on deck including the government and stakeholders, it will be a right step.”

Inequality, poor infrastructure will hinder smooth running of CBT for The federal government has been charged to invest wisely in education infrastructures and avoid shortcuts in its bid to fully adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) in all the examinations of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) next year.
