{"id":3907,"date":"2025-05-07T06:33:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T06:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=3907"},"modified":"2025-05-07T06:33:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T06:33:08","slug":"umahi-engages-party-leaders-in-road-projects-monitoring-directs-stoppage-of-shoddy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/05\/07\/umahi-engages-party-leaders-in-road-projects-monitoring-directs-stoppage-of-shoddy\/","title":{"rendered":"Umahi engages party leaders in road projects monitoring, directs stoppage of shoddy\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By Our Reporter<\/p>\n<p>To save the nation from use of shoddy work on road projects,Minister of works, Engr David Umahi has urged the chairmen of All Progressive Congress (APC) across the country to join hands with the ministry to ensure that the ongoing road projects in their areas meet the quality test and standard spelt out in the renewed hope agenda of the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister also directed the party leaders to halt and report any shoddy job discovered on the ongoing road projects in the their domain to the ministry for appropriate action.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi who stated this during the courtesy visit of the delegation of the Renewed Hope Strategic Stakeholders\u2019 in his office in Abuja Tuesday, said the administration would not tolerate substandard jobs and would terminate any project that fails to meet up.<\/p>\n<p>He hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s economic reform policies, saying the results of the reforms have started manifesting.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said, the bold decisions on subsidy removal and naira flotation are revamping Nigeria\u2019s economy in a sustainable direction.<\/p>\n<p>He called on Nigerians to support the present administration of President Bola Tinubu in its efforts to change Nigeria for good of the people.<\/p>\n<p>He maintained that President Tinubu\u2019s administration inherited a challenging economic environment, stating that it has remained courageous and consistent in implementing transformative fiscal policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira were difficult decisions, but they have opened the space for long-term stability, self-reliance, and economic discipline,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi stated that contrary to initial concerns, the nation is already witnessing positive signs of recovery, while citing the drop in food inflation as one of the emerging benefits of the ongoing reforms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur agricultural interventions and policies are beginning to stabilize prices in key markets, and this is just the beginning,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi further reiterated the administration\u2019s commitment to promoting local content across sectors, especially in infrastructure development, stating that local engineers, contractors, and manufacturers are now being prioritized to ensure that wealth and jobs are retained within the country. \u201cEconomic growth will be sustained when Nigerians are the ones building Nigeria,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister commended the administration\u2019s youth empowerment agenda, noting that many young Nigerians are being engaged through ongoing road projects, skills acquisition programmes, and empowerment schemes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Tinubu understands that our youth are the greatest asset we have, and we are investing in them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi said Tinubu\u2019s government is changing the narrative by reviving and completing long-abandoned road projects across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President is personally committed to seeing all inherited and ongoing road projects delivered.
