Contray to its earlier resolution wherein it passed a Bill for an Act to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to Provide for the Principle of Rotation of the Offices of the President and the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria among the Six geo-political Zones of the Country, the House on Tuesday setaside the bill for another day delibration.<\/p>\n
The six zones as presented in the proposed legislation are North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-South, and South-West and for Related
\nMatters<\/p>\n
The Bill which was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker,Hon.Benjamin Kalu who presided the legislative session was however stepped down when it was discovered that it was lumped with eight other bills by some of the lawmakers<\/p>\n
Moreover, the bill had generated a lot of emotions during the debate on the floor whereby members who were in support argued that it will cure the long age marginalisation in the country.<\/p>\n
But for those with the opposing view, they expressed that it will encourage rivalry among Nigerians.<\/p>\n
Some members of the House who spoke on the bill include Hon. Aliyu Madaki from Kano State, Hon. Clement Jimbo, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Shina Oyedeji, Oyo State, Hon. Ali Isa, Gombe State and
\nHon. Bello El-Rufai from Kaduna State.<\/p>\n
Consequent upon a motion moved by the Chairman, Rules and Business Committee of the House, Hon. Francis Waive, the green chamber resolved that each of the bills be distinctively presented on the floor on the next legislative day for better understanding of the proposed law with regard to what they seek to cure<\/p>\n
