The House of Representatives Committees on Federal Character has invited for the last time four Medical Directors of University Teaching Hospital and Three Chief Executive Officers of Ministries Departments and Agencies MDAs of the Federal Government to appear unfailingly before it or face sanctions.<\/p>\n
The Committee Chairman Hon.Idris Wase issued the summon on Wednesday during the investigative hearing of the House Committee probing the inclusion of federal character principles in recruitment among government agencies and institutions as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (As Amended).<\/p>\n
The lawmaker lamented that the Medical Directors of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Itukku\/Ozalla, The University of Benin Teaching Hospital Benin City, the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Ile Ife and the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria had repeatedly ignored the House Committee’s several invitations on the issue.<\/p>\n
He also said that the Chief Executive Officers of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Displaced Persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the National Intelligence Agency NIA have also refused to honour the invitations of the House panel on the probe.<\/p>\n
He said that the House Committee has issued the last warning to the Medical Directors and Heads of these government agencies to appear and clear the allegations against them on staff recruitment.<\/p>\n
The House Committee Chairman also stated that several letters had been written to the heads of these government owned hospitals and agencies in the past but the had repeatedly failed to honour the House invitations<\/p>\n
He threatened that in the event that they failed to appear for the last warning, the House would invoke its powers in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) to compel their appearance with appropriate sanctions by the House.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
