{"id":4469,"date":"2025-05-29T13:16:56","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T13:16:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=4469"},"modified":"2025-05-29T13:16:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T13:16:56","slug":"gov-okpebholo-wins-again-as-appeal-court-dismisses-ighodalos-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/05\/29\/gov-okpebholo-wins-again-as-appeal-court-dismisses-ighodalos-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov Okpebholo Wins Again as Appeal Court Dismisses Ighodalo\u2019s Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><\/h1>\n<p>The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for being validly conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n<p>The three-man appeal panel on Thursday also held that Governor Okpebholo was properly returned and declared as winner of the September 24, 2024 gubernatorial election by INEC.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Mohammed Danjuma, who delivered judgment in the appeal brought before the court by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and it\u2019s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo held that appeal was devoid of merit and subsequently dismissed it in its entirety.<\/p>\n<p>In a unanimous decision, the appellate court held that both PDP and Ighodalo failed to establish miscarriage of justice in the judgment of the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal which had earlier dismissed the petition of the two appellants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for being validly conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
