The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the identity of the woman found dead in a hotel in the Igbogene area of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Contrary to earlier reports, the deceased was not a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).<\/p>\n
According to the police public relations officer, SP Musa Mohammed, the victim was identified as 22-year-old Miss Francisca Otu, a commercial sex worker who resided in the “Ashawo Quarters” in Okarki, a nearby community bordering Bayelsa State. She was originally from the Omubo community in Akwa Ibom State.<\/p>\n
Mohammed clarified that while initial reports suggested the incident occurred on Wednesday, investigations reveal that it actually took place on Saturday. A forensic investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspect, believed to be a young man she lodged with allegedly an internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a yahoo boy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe receptionist at Favour home guest house, Rachael Adaora, alerted the police after deceased the woman\u2019s naked and lifeless body in one of the rooms,\u201d Mohammed said.<\/p>\n
He added that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Igbogene Division led a team of officers to the scene, where the body was recovered and the room was secured for further investigation.<\/p>\n
