{"id":4974,"date":"2025-06-19T22:34:45","date_gmt":"2025-06-19T22:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=4974"},"modified":"2025-06-19T22:37:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T22:37:47","slug":"4974","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/06\/19\/4974\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivers 2025 Budget : Ibas presents N1.846tri.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By George Mgbeleke,Abuja<\/p>\n<p>Rivers State Sole administrator,Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (RTD)has presented a budget estimate of N1.846trillion to Senate Adhoc Committee on Rivers state for consideration and approval.<br \/>\nRecall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had proposed a budget estimate of N1.48trilion to the Senate for Rivers State for 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The difference of N365billion is the surplus from what the sole Administrator presented to the Senate adhoc Committee.<br \/>\nShading ligh on the breakdown of his presentation Vice Admiral Ibas explained that key features of the budget include:<\/p>\n<p>Total projected revenue: \u20a61.490 trillion<\/p>\n<p>Revised total projected expenditure: \u20a61.846 trillion (after incorporating first-quarter expenditure undertaken by the previous administration.<\/p>\n<p>Explainning further he said,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u20a6324.5 billion allocated to physical infrastructure: roads, bridges, and transport connectivity to boost commerce and urban-rural integration.<\/p>\n<p>\u20a638.85 billion earmarked for shoreline protection, erosion control, and land reclamation to mitigate climate risks and environmental displacement.<\/p>\n<p>Agriculture and Food Security<\/p>\n<p>\u20a610 billion allocated to boost local production of rice, cassava, maize, oil palm, poultry, and coconut.<\/p>\n<p>\u20a64.5 billion for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Program (RAAMP) to unlock an additional \u20a645 billion in rural access projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u20a63.5 billion for modernizing agricultural practices and food processing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ibas, &#8220;the initiatives are projected to generate over 16,000 jobs in two years.<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare and Education<\/p>\n<p>\u20a655 billion for relocating and expanding Rivers State University Teaching Hospital<\/p>\n<p>\u20a650 billion for upgrading zonal hospitals<\/p>\n<p>\u20a65 billion for a revolving drug fund<\/p>\n<p>\u20a630 billion for secondary schools<\/p>\n<p>\u20a65.75 billion for rehabilitating primary schools<\/p>\n<p>\u20a61.5 billion for inclusive special education<\/p>\n<p>Women, Youth, and Financial Inclusion<\/p>\n<p>\u20a62.5 billion for women\u2019s economic empowerment<\/p>\n<p>\u20a63 billion to establish a youth resource and innovation center<\/p>\n<p>\u20a620 billion for recapitalizing the Rivers State Microfinance Bank, improving credit access for MSMEs, especially youth and women.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Continuing he said, &#8220;interventions will deepen inclusive economic growth and support entrepreneurship across demographic lines.<\/p>\n<p>Housing and Urban Development<\/p>\n<p>\u20a625 billion for affordable housing schemes targeting middle-income families<\/p>\n<p>Projects to decongest urban areas and rehabilitate state-owned housing<\/p>\n<p>Emphasis on job creation through construction and infrastructure development<\/p>\n<p>Environmental and Public Sector Reforms<\/p>\n<p>Major investments in flood mitigation, drainage rehabilitation, and ecosystem protection<\/p>\n<p>Over \u20a6117 billion for pensions and employee benefits<\/p>\n<p>\u20a650 billion specifically allocated to begin clearing pension and gratuity arrears<\/p>\n<p>Implementation of Employee Compensation Act and group life insurance schemes for Rivers people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By George Mgbeleke,Abuja Rivers State Sole administrator,Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (RTD)has presented a budget estimate of N1.846trillion to Senate Adhoc Committee on Rivers state for consideration and approval.
