{"id":5273,"date":"2025-07-05T15:50:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T15:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=5273"},"modified":"2025-07-05T15:50:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T15:50:00","slug":"king-dakolo-pere-of-kabowei-kingdom-ijaw-women-in-diasporaothers-at-summit-against-gbv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/07\/05\/king-dakolo-pere-of-kabowei-kingdom-ijaw-women-in-diasporaothers-at-summit-against-gbv\/","title":{"rendered":"King Dakolo, Pere of Kabowei kingdom, Ijaw Women in Diaspora,others at Summit against GBV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By David Owei, Bayelsa<br \/>\nChairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, King Bubaraye Dakolo Agada the 1V, the Ibenanaowei of Ekptiama kingdom and Pere of Kabowei Kingdom, HRM Shadrach Erebulu, Adou lll and other prominent Niger Delta are set to attend the inaugural summit against Gender Based Violence in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on on Monday 7th July, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Also expected in attendance are over 300 selected students of secondary schools and post secondary schools in the state.students are expected from both secondary and tertiary institutions at the maiden edition of Teenage Summit by The Association of Women Against Gender Based Violence in Yenagoa on Monday 7th July, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Alfred Izon-Ebi, also known as JKing, Popular Ijaw Music Maestro and prominent Ijaws in diaspora, UK and the United States are expected to grace the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The President of AWAGBV, Dr. Dise Ogbise, who recalled that the Association of Women Against Gender Based Violence, was created in 2017 to deal with issues of sexual abuse, gender violence, to support and empower women and to chat the way forward about challenges of women.<\/p>\n<p>She pointed out that since creation, the association come together to foster the collective support of women from different endeavor and from harmful social cultural to economic and environmental practices that will enhance a sustainable future for them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have to develop and implement a capacity building program for women and children which includes a boy child, we have to advocate for actionable policies that will be of benefits for women and children and gender representation in government . We have the cooperations of associations between national and international organizations&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Dise said, they will pay advocacy visit to the state Assembly to seek support for legislative backing. &#8220;It is an Association where girl and boy child including women can run to for assistance&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On her part, the Secretary of the planning committee Barr. Marian Akpoyi-Ouseigha said the lineup of activities includes, a Cocktail party on Sunday, while on Monday there will be Teenage summit for teenage Ambassadors where about 250 to 300 students are expected from secondary schools and even from the tertiary level with various sections and keynote speaker. While the last day been Tuesday 8th of July will be for Fund raising for the association.<\/p>\n<p>On her part, Chief De Antonia Garner who is the Grand Patron of AWAGBV said, after the summit, they will put in place a strategic plan which will includes carrying out sensitisation program, a legal Frame work and operational team that will work with the women.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Antonia further said they might not be able to stop gender violence but it can be manage to a barest minimum through advocacy and sensitisation.
