{"id":5539,"date":"2025-07-15T17:31:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T17:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=5539"},"modified":"2025-07-15T17:31:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T17:31:20","slug":"group-mulls-rally-to-persuade-gov-diri-to-decamp-to-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/07\/15\/group-mulls-rally-to-persuade-gov-diri-to-decamp-to-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Group Mulls Rally To Persuade Gov Diri To Decamp To APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By David Owei,Bayelsa<\/p>\n<p>A group under the aegis of Concerned Bayelsa Stakeholders Forum (CBSF ) has not only lend their voice towards Governor Douye Diri decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress, but has concluded plans to organize a rally to knock down the streets of Yenagoa and has called on Governor Diri to as matter of urgency and importance to join the leagues of South South governors that have dumped People&#8217;s Democratic Party for the All progressive Congress that have aligned with the government at the centre in order to attract development to Bayelsa and ceased to be a political orphan.<\/p>\n<p>The convener of the group, Comrade Wisdom Ikuli, Technical Adviser to governor Douye Diri on Print Media stated this in a world press conference in Yenagoa, capital of Batelsa state.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, presently Bayelsa state is standing alone in the whole of South South region , as there are possible challenge that the PDP in Bayelsa state might be hijacked by few individuals and that is a very dangerous development that they have set for Bayelsa in 2027,notably those that intend to fly the flag of PDP.<br \/>\n&#8220;In the next few days we shall begin a daily rally on the streets of Bayelsa state to prevail on His Excellency to do the needful&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8221; His Excellency should ignore all oppossing voices against his decamping . We say this because they are fighting to protect their individual political interest without priotization than that of state and entire Ijaw Nation&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also averred that the ljaws have been neglected and rendered politically and economically redundant and impotentent because we are not with the government at the centre .<br \/>\n&#8221; Ironically, the ljaws are the majority in terms of population in the geographic Niger Delta region ( South &#8211; South ) and fourth largest tribe in Nigeria, the ljaws that contribute well over 65% of the oil and gas wealth that are used to run the affairs of the country have been rendered powerless because of our non &#8211; alignment with the centre, the ruling political party.<\/p>\n<p>He also used the opportunity to applaud President Bola Tinubu who graciously appointed illustrious<\/p>\n<ul>\n daughters and sons of Ijaw Nation and Bayelsa state in particular into key offices .
