Serving two full terms as Vice President of Nigeria and being a Presidential candidate twice has been one of the most significant chapters of my life.

As a founding father of this esteemed Party, it is indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision.

“However, I find it necessary to part ways due to the current trajectory the Party has taken, which I believe diverges from the foundational principles we stood for. It is with a heavy heart that I resign, recognizing the irreconcilable differences that have emerged.”

The co-founder of PDP, thereafter extended best wishes to the PDP and its leadership, expressing appreciation for the support he received over the years.

It was gathered that all local government and ward chairmen of Jada Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Atiku Abubakar’s home state, have equally resigned from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

Atiku’s exit from the PDP had been expected since the past six months but it may have been delayed by efforts from some leaders of the party to make peace through reconciliation overtures but their efforts did not appear to have yielded the desired results.

This is not the first time that the former vice president will leave the PDP. He resigned from the party in Febuary 2014 shortly before the general elections and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contested against the late President Muhammadu Buhari and three others for the APC presidential ticket before returning to the PDP later and grabbed the ticket to contest the 2023 presidential election which he lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

By Our Correspondent Ahead of 2027 election, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has finally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in preparatory to assuming full membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
