Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated Nigeria\u2019s national female football team, the Super Falcons, on their historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women\u2019s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament, on Saturday.<\/p>\n
In a statement by his Media Adviser, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the team’s victory as a testament to their resilience, talent and unyielding national spirit.<\/p>\n
The Super Falcons walloped the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2 in a pulsating final match of the 13th WAFCON, played at the Rabat Olympic Stadium in Morocco.<\/p>\n
The triumph marks the 10th time that Nigeria has won the trophy.<\/p>\n
” I congratulate the Super Falcons and indeed all Nigerians on our team’s historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women\u2019s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.<\/p>\n
” This victory is a testament to our players’ resilience, talent and unyielding national spirit. This is a moment of immense pride and celebration for our nation,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Deputy President of the Senate, who is the founder of the Barau Football Club, which recently secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following an impressive performance in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs, said the Super Falcons have again proven that Nigeria remains dominant in African women\u2019s football.<\/p>\n
” The team’s determination, discipline, and passion throughout the tournament are commendable. It inspires a new generation of Nigerian girls to believe in the power of their dreams.<\/p>\n
