Disturbed by the recent killings in Ezinachi\u00a0 community in Okigwe local government\u00a0 area of Imo State, the state\u00a0 Police\u00a0 command\u00a0 has set machinery in motion to track\u00a0 down\u00a0 unknown gunmen responsible\u00a0 for the dastardly\u00a0 act in which five lives were lost\u00a0 and residences destroyed in the community.<\/p>\n
In a statement\u00a0 \u00a0issued\u00a0 in Owerri the state capital, Monday,\u00a0 the command’s spokesman , DSP Henry\u00a0 Okoye,\u00a0 the\u00a0 commissioner of\u00a0 Police,\u00a0 Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command\u2019s tactical teams in synergy with other sister security agencies and local vigilantes, to hunt down the suspected gun men.<\/p>\n
He recalled that the attack\u00a0 which happened\u00a0 on\u00a0 August 22, 2025, at the\u00a0 community, claimed\u00a0 the lives of five\u00a0 residents\u00a0 and destroyed\u00a0 several residencies<\/p>\n
The statement further said, ” during the attack, Edeh George, a member of the local youth security team, together with four villagers identified as Emeka Ezeagwula\u00a0 Chikodi Ezeagwula\u00a0 Chidi Chileke\u00a0 and Ejike Nwankwo\u00a0 were fatally shot. ”<\/p>\n
” The assailants further set ablaze the residence of the youth security leader and destroyed five motorcycles.” the statement added<\/p>\n
It went on, ” upon receipt of the distress report, Police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Okigwe, where doctors confirmed them dead on arrival. ” pointing out that the\u00a0 remains of the\u00a0 victims have been deposited at the hospital mortuary, while one survivor is currently receiving medical treatment.”<\/p>\n
Okoye\u00a0 stated\u00a0 that the Commissioner of Police,\u00a0 \u00a0 is personally leading an intense operation in Okigwe alongside other security agencies, condemning the heinous act and assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n
He stressed that those behind the attack will be made to face the full weight of the law.<\/p>\n
The CP also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased victims, wished the injured survivor a speedy recovery, and prayed that God grants the affected families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.<\/p>\n
The Command according\u00a0 to it, urges residents to remain calm as security has been reinforced in Okigwe and its environs while\u00a0 members of the public are further encouraged to support the Police with credible and timely information that can aid ongoing investigations by reporting to the nearest Police Station or via 0803 477 3600.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
