The just retired Director of Sports in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports Development Sir. Braveman Wodi on Monday said one of the way to excel in Sporting is about prioritising athletes welfare and letting people know your ideology.<\/p>\n
Wodi said one needs to think of the welfare of the athletes , the coaches and other stakeholders. in his words, Wodi said one have to be transparent. “Whatever you have, you bring it to the table and during difficult situations and rough edges\u00a0 the affected athletes will also bear with you”.<\/p>\n
Sir Braveman Wodi made this known while reacting to questions from journalists after receiving a nomination letter from the Bayelsa Media Network Awards (BMNA) as the Visionary Administrator of the Year ,an award ceremony that normally takes place at every 26th of December each year.<\/p>\n
He recalled his experience when he took about nine hundred athletes(900) out for a Sporting event without any allowance but that they have the assurance that they will get it based on his integrity. ” There are many\u00a0 approvals that will come late but because of the trust they have in the system, athletes always comply, and they all comported themselves.<\/p>\n
“If you are transparent, think about welfare of the people, bring what you have on the table because we are a team and everybody feels happy and enjoys being together and by so doing, they have trust in you”.<\/p>\n
When asked about his exciting moments ,he said, the exciting moment was when you are getting good results from what you put in, saying one of those moments was Edo 2021 where Bayelsa for the very first time was able to make it to the 3rd place.<\/p>\n
“We used to circulate around 15, 18 and 20 gold medals but moved to getting 50 and 60 gold medals which was a big achievement, We went to Asaba, it was a better one and recently we are coming from Ogun and I count on and on. These are exciting moments for me.<\/p>\n
“Am a very quiet person and like to do my thing quietly, whatever I have done, I have done them with passion and dedication but I never knew it will snowball into me been nominated. I want to say Bayelsa, we have what it takes for us to be up there. In all spheres we are blessed, when it comes to sports, we are abundantly blessed and also we have the technocrats, so, we are blessed”.<\/p>\n
Thanking the BMNA team,Wodi said, he was overwhelmed with joy, because he never knew that his little contributions to the sports industry was being noticed from far. “I work with my people as a team, shared an idea on what to do and how we are going to do it and above all, I believe in God and my successor too will also toe the same line by handing over everything to God. Am very grateful to BMNA for choosing me”.<\/p>\n
In his remark, the Project Manager of Bayelsa Media Network Award (BMNA) Mr. Blessing Mathew Ozegbe said, based on track record of sir Braveman Wodi in the Ministry of Sports Development, the team found him worthy of the award as the Best Visionary Administrator of the Year.<\/p>\n
According to him, BMNA rewards excellence, saying for the just retired Director of Sports to have serve his service years out without a stain deserved commendation and an award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
