Oladimeji Fabiyi has criticized the PDP\u2019s National Executive Committee (NEC)&#8217;s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South,declaring that the party has lost its status as Nigeria\u2019s leading opposition.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a statement made available\u00a0 to the media on Monday, Fabiyi congratulated the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for emerging as the country\u2019s foremost opposition party.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Fabiyi described the PDP\u2019s zoning decision as a grave error, calling it \u201cdeliberately mischievous\u201d and driven by the interests of a greedy few rather than the nation\u2019s welfare.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>\u201cWhen a party prioritizes an individual\u2019s wishes over collective interests, it is doomed,\u201d Fabiyi stated, pointing to the PDP\u2019s current trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By zoning the presidency to the South at its 102nd NEC meeting, the PDP has confirmed its role as an extension of the APC,\u201d Fabiyi asserted.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><ins><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>He argued that the decision, influenced by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and a few others aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is &#8220;a strategic move to field a weaker candidate in 2027, paving the way for President Tinubu\u2019s re-election.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By zoning the presidency to the South at its 102nd NEC meeting, the PDP has confirmed its role as an extension of the APC,\u201d Fabiyi asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The ADC he noted , now stands as Nigeria\u2019s only credible opposition and a viable alternative to the failing APC government<\/p>\n<p>Fabiyi urged the ADC to seize this opportunity by strengthening its internal structure and providing a robust opposition that inspires Nigerians\u2019 confidence.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><ins><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>He praised the ADC\u2019s visionary leadership for establishing a coalition platform, describing it as a critical alternative for the country.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><ins><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>In closing, Fabiyi called on Nigerians to rally behind the ADC to deliver good governance and democratic progress.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nigerians must wake up, stand firm, and support the ADC to achieve the development we urgently need,\u201d he sai<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent A major stakeholder in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon.
