It was a moment of pride and celebration for Osun State at the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba as young athletes, many of them competing on a national stage for the very first time, stunned the nation with an impressive 25 medals, 5 gold, 4 silver, and 16 bronze.<\/p>\n
From the tracks to the swimming pools, from the gym floor to the boxing ring, Team Osun proved that the state\u2019s youth are not just full of promise but already capable of competing with the best in the country.<\/p>\n
One of the most emotional moments came from Adekunle Uthman, who powered his way to gold in para-athletics. In the gymnasium, Semilore Adeoye dazzled with grace and strength, clinching a gold medal and adding two bronzes to her name.<\/p>\n
Team spirit carried Osun to glory in basketball, where the state\u2019s youngsters worked together seamlessly to outplay their opponents and grab gold. Over at the table tennis arena, Umar Ayoola became a fan favorite, winning gold in the doubles alongside Quyum Olawuyi, before adding a silver medal in the singles event.<\/p>\n
The taekwondo team added its share of glory, with Raji Naila striking gold while Owolabi Kareemat and Oladele Mubarak fought their way to bronze.<\/p>\n
The swimming pool also saw Osun colours fly high as Beatrice Ward splashed her way to two silver medals and a bronze, while Pelumi Adeosun showed resilience with three bronzes.<\/p>\n
Weightlifting and para-powerlifting further proved Osun\u2019s depth, with Zainab Oladimeji, Opeyemi Muminat Jamiu, and Adegboye Habib all climbing the podium.<\/p>\n
Even in traditional Ayo Olopon, Mustapha Agbaje kept Osun\u2019s heritage alive with a bronze medal. Boxing wasn\u2019t left out, as Busari Aliyah and Lawal Mujizat both fought with courage to secure medals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
