Secretary, North Central Chapter of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Hon. Francis Orogu, has declared that the success of the 2027 general elections would not be depended on how well politicians are in coalition or the unfortunate political conspiracy involving traditional rulers, religious leaders but on a good foundation and reformation of a well discipline Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary.<\/p>\n
Orogu alleged that elections process in Nasarawa State in particular were being manipulated with the conspiracy of INEC, the judiciary, traditional institutions and the religious leaders.<\/p>\n
According to the immediate past Nasarawa State chairman of PDP in a statement issued on Sunday, successful conduction of the 2027 general elections particularly in the state would only be realized if only reformation of INEC and the judiciary are adequately addressed.<\/p>\n
“The success of 2027 elections will not depend on how well the politicians are in coalition or the unfortunate political conspiracy of the traditional rulers, religious leaders, but on a good foundation and reformation of a well disciplined INEC and the judiciary.<\/p>\n
“There will be a genuine electoral process when our traditional institutions and religious leaders detach themselves from being partisan and remain neutral in Nasarawa State,” he stressed.<\/p>\n
Orogu further advised political leaders to uphold the dignity of every Nigerian, shun corruption, end insecurity and improve on the basic needs of the citizen as well as their welfare, stressing the need for integrity and fairness by those in leadership positions for the country to achieve peace and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
He said: “We must improve and redevelop our election manipulation antidotes in Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large to ensure that people\u2019s mandate are protected, to usher in leaders of values and integrity and not political and financial vampires.<\/p>\n
“We must do away with those who look the other way when human lives are being wasted and destroyed by bandits, while they concentrate on the governance methodologies to loot the people\u2019s resources.”<\/p>\n
He, therefore, advocated for the inclusion of a legal law to ensure that elections accreditation is equally done electronically to further ensure elections transparency\/ confidence building in the mind of electorate and nothing more.<\/p>\n
The PDP chief also charged the citizens to go and obtain their voters cards as a weapon to vote out bad governance, poverty and hardship, which he alleged were brought by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.<\/p>\n
“Without your voters cards, you can not effectively participate in the elections and vote candidates of your choice in 2027. To effectively participate, residents of Nasarawa must turn out en masse and register, obtain their voters cards as their weapon ahead of 2027,” Orogu stated.<\/p>\n
He assured all well meaning PDP members in the state that the party is well position to resist defeat in the future elections, saying “this time, it will be face me I face you political movement where give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar will be applied.
