The leadership of Atissa Youth Council led by Comrade Josiah Osomuze, frown at NDDC’s inexhaustible silence amid historic Communities of Famgbe and Obogoro of Atissa kingdom, Yenagoa Local Government of Bayelsa State consumed by erosion to near extinction in the midst of transformative NDDC.<\/p>\n
According to findings, the reason the project halt suggest Engineering defect, the long overdue correction process lasting over 11yrs has erode public trust and confidence on the NDDC.<\/p>\n
While the said project was initiated by NDDC over 11 years, administrative transitions inherits but assets and liability.<\/p>\n
Council applaud NDDC boss, Chief Samuel Ogbuku( PhD), for his transformative mission embarked upon changing the narrative beyond what NDDC is known for, evidence of this is the ”OPERATION LIGHT UP NIGER DELTA” with solar powered light installations etc.<\/p>\n
Council implore Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the painstaking stewardship of the MD\/CEO Dr. Ogbuku and the Senate House Committee on NDDC as a matter of urgency and emergency extend the transformative energy to Famgbe\/Obogoro erosion tragedy amid rising flood as some have lost their life’s, properties worth billions submerged, many are homeless while thousands lives in fear with their hearts at hand in oblivion.<\/p>\n
Worrisomely, the disastrous erosion is at the verge of eroding ATISSA KING’S PALACE at Obogoro Community, and if this happens would not strip Atissa kingdom of her dignity alone but a taboo to our revered kingship throne, God forbid.<\/p>\n
This call shall continue echo in the Conference Hall of the Senate House Committee on NDDC and the NDDC Management Board Room until genuine attention is given and contractors mobilized to site.<\/p>\n
We will not get tired of this call as long as the people we represents lives in the lonely wilderness of depression and frustration, the demand shall continue in increase as long as the waterside boys and girls can’t fetch water from the river even though they live at the river bank, we shall not get tired as long as our people are not free from erosion.<\/p>\n
We refused to believe that our demand is beyond the scope of the NDDC mandate, we refused to accept silent position of the NDDC for over 11yrs.<\/p>\n
