Barely 24 hour after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lifted the emergency proclamation on Rivers State that gave rise to the six months suspension on the governor of Rives state, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, speaker and his deputy in the state House of Assembly, State House of Assembly has commenced move to probe the six months administration of the former Sole Administrator of the state, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.<\/div>\n

Recall that Ibas was on March 18, 2025 appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State for six months by President Tinubu after declaring a state of emergency rule in the State, suspending the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu and members of the state assembly as a result of the escalated political crisis in the state occasioned by the rift between the governor and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.<\/div>\n

President Tinubu however, on Wednesday lifted the suspension on Governor Fubara, his deputy and the Assembly members, following the expiration of the emergency rule midnight of September 17th, 2025.<\/div>\n

Daily Echoes Media gathered that the Assembly resumed plenary on Thursday 18th September, following their reinstatement by President Tinubu.<\/div>\n

The House during their first plenary urged the Governor to commence the process of coming up with an Appropriation Bill to cover the remaining part of the year; and to ascertain what transpired in the last six months (under Ibas) with regards to the award of contracts and expenditures from the State’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.<\/div>\n

Consequently, the Assembly also promised to work with Governor Siminalayi Fubara after their reinstatement from a six months suspension, following the expiration of the emergency rule in the state.<\/div>\n

The Lawmakers, among other resolutions during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, asked Governor Siminalayi Fubara to immediately forward list of Commissioner-nominees to it for screening and confirmation.<\/div>\n

A statement by Martin Wachukwu, Media aid to the speaker said the Leader of the House, Hon. Major Jack while moving a motion on behalf of eight co-sponsors,\u00a0 averred that the House considered it imperative to set the agenda straight to reflect current realities.<\/div>\n

The lawmakers while contributing to the debate on the Motion, applauded the motion and expressed support for all the prayers therein.<\/div>\n

Commenting on the Motion, the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule commended President Bola Tinubu for restoring democratic institutions in the State; declaring that, “Going forward, the House will work with the Governor and abide by the terms of the peace parley and the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the interest of peace and good governance in the State.”<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
