{"id":7512,"date":"2025-09-30T03:28:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T03:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=7512"},"modified":"2025-09-30T03:28:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T03:28:07","slug":"nulge-declares-7-days-warning-strike-in-rivers-over-unpaid-workers-salaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/09\/30\/nulge-declares-7-days-warning-strike-in-rivers-over-unpaid-workers-salaries\/","title":{"rendered":"NULGE Declares 7 Days Warning Strike in Rivers Over Unpaid Workers\u2019 Salaries\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">By Our Correspondent<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State Chapter has declared a seven-day warning strike in the state.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Rivers NULGE said the 7 days warning strike was in response to alleged refusal\u00a0 of the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Chidi Lloyd to pay workers in the council their salaries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The State NULGE Secretary, Comrade Sunday Adeniran, in a statement in Port Harcourt on Monday directed all Chairmen of the union across 23 local government areas of the state to mobilize council workers for the strike action effective midnight of Tuesday, September 30, 2025.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Adeniran noted that the decision to embark on strike action was a resolution reached at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Monday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The statement reads; &#8220;The State leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State Chapter hereby notifies you that the State Executive Council (SEC) of the Union at its meeting held on 29th September, 2025 resolved to embark on a 7 day warning strike.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Accordingly, effective from mid-night of 30th September, 2025 all Local Government Employees across the State are hereby directed to withdraw their services immediately until further notice.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;This action has becone necessary in view of the Callous and unfair action of the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in denying our members their salaries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We count on your cooperation and solidarity in ensuring full compliance with this directive.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Recalled that workers at the Emohua local government area last wee, took a protest to the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission to register the ill treatment of the Council Chairman against them.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Emohua Council Chairman was also accused of allegedly sacking 300 Staff without for no tangible reason.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Meanwhile, the Emohua LGA Chairman, Chidi Lloyd had denied the accusation, alleging that no staff of the council was neither sacked nor denied salary.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State Chapter has declared a seven-day warning strike in the state.
