another promising\u00a0 Nigerian citizen, the Acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Sad\u00ecq Umar Abubakar Gombe, on behalf of the National Working Committee (NEC) and the SDP family nationwide, has expressed condolences to the management and staff of ARISE News Channel on the death of its popular news anchor, reporter, and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, SDP,Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the party noted that the ace media personality, who demonstrated admirable passion and commitment for social order, democratic consolidation, good governance, and national development in general, was reported to have died as a result of a violent armed robbery attack on her Katampe home in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to the party the death of this vibrant news anchor, who was affectionately known as Sommie among her colleagues, has brought a pall of grief upon the nation&#8217;s media space, particularly considering the circumstances of her death.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The party noted that this is another national loss, and yet an addition to the number of lives wasted by the Nigerian system, expressed concerns about the worsening insecurity in the country generally, with specific grave dimension of incidences of terror, violent armed robbery and other criminalities within the Federal Capital Territory, which call for urgent serious attention by the authorities.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The party also called on\u00a0 President Tinubu to focus more attention on security of lives, snd the well-being and prosperity of citizens, in accordance with the primary purpose of government, as provided for in Section 14 (2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As ammended).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The party prays for the repose of the soul of late Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu and wishes her immediate family, management, and
