The Akwa Ibom State Agency on the Control of Aid, AKSACA has taken step to curtail the spread of HIV and Aids in Akwa Ibom State with flagged-off of sensitization campaign among religious organizations in the state.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Agency,Dr Enobong Akpan said that the sensitization campaign flagged off at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Uyo Parish on Sunday will be taken round the State in partnership with supporting partners, aimed at eradicating the menace which is affecting the top majority of young people in the state.<\/p>\n
He tasked religious leaders to preach morality as a mean of inculcating abstinence, faithfulness to partner, use of condom, drugs abuse abstinence, amongst other things.<\/p>\n
The exercise he said is inline with the state Government Arise Agenda program on health and wellness of the people of Akwa Ibom, as the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno is seriously frowning on the spate of prevelent of the infection among young people in the state according to report.<\/p>\n
The campaign is supported by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN which was represented by Bishop Prince Antia, Chairman Religious Leaders Network on HIV\/AID, the state Ministry of Health, Information, Women Affairs, the Media, and Dr Etok Antia, Director of Public Health who represented the Commissioner for Health, Ministry of Youth Development and People Living with HIV\/AID<\/p>\n
Receiving the delegation, Rev Uwem Etukakpan laud initiative of AKSACA and for choosing Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Uyo Parish to flagged off the sensitization meant for the whole state.
\nPrayers were offered to members of the team to carryout a successful sensitization campaign in the state against the silent killer of young and old people in the society called HIV.
\nEarlier in his sermon at the service , on the topic Sanctified for the masters service, the officiating minister Rev Uwem Etukakpan, said God can used anything but will not used everything, as everything is at his disposal to do his work.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that christians are not the master, by so knowing, they should work inline with the masters plan, by pleasing God and to achieved this, christians must work together in unity to serve God better.<\/p>\n
On prevention, Emem Nseobong who talked about transmission from mother to unborn child, said HIV can be prevented via counciling, access to drugs, adherence to anti retofiral drugs, antenatal care, and administration of anti body drugs under 75 hours to new born child of an infected mother, and all the care and medicals are free across Akwa Ibom.<\/p>\n
The Agency used the sensitization to offer free medical exercise to members of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria in the area of High Blood Pressure, HIV Test, TB Test and Sugar level test
