The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has again jerked up the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol to N1,030 per litre.<\/p>\n
The development was observed by our correspondent at some NNPCL outlets in Abuja on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Our Correspondent gathered that the recent development came after the NNPCL decided to terminate its exclusive purchase agreement with Dangote Refinery.<\/p>\n
This means the NNPCL will no longer be the sole off-taker, and marketers can now negotiate prices directly with Dangote Refinery.<\/p>\n
In the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the product was previously sold for N897 per liter.<\/p>\n
Our correspondent further gathered that in Lagos, fuel which previously sold for N885 per litre, is now being sold at N998 amid long queues.<\/p>\n
The station did not display its prices on either the signboard or the pump meter, leaving customers unaware of the cost of fuel. Instead, the only information they received was through verbal communication from the fuel attendants.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very angry right now. I entered this station thinking their price would be better. It was only after I had wasted time in the queue that I was informed by the fuel attendant that the price had risen to N1,030,\u201d said the customer, who did not give his name.<\/p>\n
However, checks by our correspondent at independent marketers\u2019 stations, including Conoil and Total Energies, opposite the NNPCL headquarters, showed the product was sold at N926, but with long queues.<\/p>\n
