Tinubu Scraps Sports, Niger Delta Ministries,<\/p>\n
Reshuffles Ministries with ministerial portfolios<\/p>\n
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday approved the immediate
\nimplementation of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the
\nAdministration\u2019s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of his
\ncommitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.
\nThe eight actions approved by Mr. President include:
\n1. The renaming of the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development to Ministry
\nof Regional Development to oversee the activities of all the Regional
\nDevelopment Commissions. The Regional Development
\nCommissions to be under the supervision of the new Ministry are; the
\nNiger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development
\nCommission, the North East Development and the North West
\nDevelopment Commission.
\n2. The immediate winding up of the Ministry of Sports Development and
\nthe transfer of its functions to the National Sports Commission in
\norder to develop a vibrant sports economy;<\/p>\n
3. The merger of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal
\nMinistry of Arts and Culture to become Federal Ministry of Art,
\nCulture, Tourism and the Creative Economy;
\n4. The re-assignment of ten (10) ministers to new ministerial portfolios;
\n5. The discharge of five (5) Ministers.
\n6. The nomination of seven (7) new ministers for onward transmission
\nto Senate for confirmation;
\n7. The appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports
\nCommission;
\n8. The appointment of Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser to the
\nPresident on Public Communication and Orientation working from the
\nMinistry of Information and National Orientation
